Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hot Docs 2006 poster.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Hot Docs 2006 poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:05, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Images

I'm not sure if you have some sort of personal vendetta against me or you just have no life, but I was wondering why you continue to remove images that i have posted, especially when some of them are photos I have taken myself. I'm sure there are a heap of images that you would deem "unacceptable" but yet you are solely choosing to remove the ones I created? If you have no life and this is what you do all day then that's your choice but please stop targeting me. Thankyou User:Rickyk10 —Preceding comment was added at 03:33, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Suspected sock puppets/Sports Nuggets

Thanks for your entry Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Sports Nuggets. You might also want to add User:Alan blumkin. You'll notice at User talk:Alan blumkin that account appears to be a sockpuppet of User talk:American Indians & real Indians based upon similar vandalism to 2000. Thanks. -- Art Smart (talk) 12:51, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks again for taking action on User:Alan blumkin. However, another sock puppet has popped up. See User talk:English sentry and yet another vandalism of 2000. I'm too much of a newbie to know all the ins and outs of handling sock puppets. Thanks yet again. -- Art Smart (talk) 16:54, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

As a learning tool, I did my best to emulate your handling of this suspected sock puppeteer. Please see my actions at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Sports Nuggets, User:English sentry, and User talk:English sentry; and advise if I did anything wrong or incompletely. Thanks again. -- Art Smart (talk) 17:35, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Image:Floyd Mayweather.jpg

Floyd Mayweather.jpg, Edward Furlong.jpg, Leonard Doroftei.jpg, Gheorghe Hagi.jpg, Lennox Lewis.jpg, De La Hoya.jpg are all marked CC-BY. Of course I'm the same person (both the uploader and the Flickr member), because they are my images. Stop talking nonsense. --Visibilia (talk) 02:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I found a similar image uploaded by a different user, no reason to remove it: Hatton.png. Same situation as mine. Please become more familiar with how things work before editing. --Visibilia (talk) 02:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Uncropped and high-resolution is not a condition to upload images. I can crop them as I please if they're mine. Then upload them. You should read Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more information on editing. --Visibilia (talk) 02:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
What you just said only proves my point, and that is: there is no reason to delete my images. You simply cannot add notices and place tags on articles/pictures just because you find them "strange" (as you stated). You would need a proper reason, which obviously lacks in this case. I should just remove the inappropriate notice right now, but I will let the admins take care of it. --Visibilia (talk) 02:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn against, and report vandalism. This case is very complex so next time please use Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents for reporting a complex abuse or refer to Wikipedia:Resolving disputes if you have a dispute with the user. Thank you. Tiptoety talk 05:11, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Ron liebman sock edits

Which edits are you referring to here? I reverted to way back in the past before any of the socks appeared. If you need to re-do some of your edits since then, can you re-do them manually? Thanks. —Wknight94 (talk) 14:40, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I see. I think you're right - it's good now. I undid a few older suspicious edits (unsourced although not necessarily Liebman). —Wknight94 (talk) 14:59, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you

I tried to move "my case" since I'm apparently a puppet, to a page of it's own and it wasn't working. Thanks for fixing that. IrishLass (talk) 15:06, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

No problem at all. --Mosmof (talk) 15:18, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Image:Paxson-shot.jpg

I misread the dispute tag. I thought it was one of those images tagged due to the author not explicitly listing the pages they wanted to use it for. Those instances are clear-cut cases where you patch up the fair use rationale and pull the disputed tag. I didn't notice that in this case your issue of contention was the actual use of the image itself. Sorry for any problems. DJBullfish 18:58, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Any idea who Dave Bus is? Too much time on your hands pal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.13.191.121 (talk) 00:30, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Response

I'll try to asume good faith but it seems you're trolling.

  • As mentioned already in the image information tag, the image is Dunning's, which he put up on his website.
  • As mentioned already in the image information tag, I emailed Dunning and requested use of the image for Wikipedia.
  • As mentioned already in the image information tag, is the lincense "Creative Commons Attribution, permission granted after personal request". Which very clearly mentions the type of license I requested to use it under.

Thus the information in the tag explains very clearly the ins and outs of its useage and how the owner allowed it for use, unless somebody was deliberatly trolling of course... following on from this there is clearly no need for such tags and I am removing them. - Talk of the Toon (talk) 15:42, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Talk of the Toon ,WP:AFG is not a cover for WP:NPA, calling someone troll is a personal attack and the 3rd such time you've done this on wiki Gnevin (talk) 16:14, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

You tagged a photo I submitted under Fair Use. If you have some time, please take another look at the image page and let me know if I have submitted an appropriate argument for fair use. Yes, I've only just noticed all your comments. Perhaps it would have been better had you placed them at the bottom of the page like I've just done instead of in the very middle amongst your other stuff. I'm not trying to do anything wrong. In future please notify me visibly instead of hiding away in the background. Thank you. -Candlewicke Consortiums Limited 01:29, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Here I am again. Annoying aren't I? I see what I've done wrong and let me say it wasn't intentional; I thought I'd supplied genuine reasons but instead of adding the reasons separately I replaced the tag completely. Am I correct? As for the Meteor Music Awards images, well some of them certainly merit an inclusion surely - The Cake Sale for instance performed live for the first and, so far by my recollection, only time so such an image must surely be worthy of inclusion by way of such an occurrence in relation to the awards. --Candlewicke Consortiums Limited 01:57, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome. Your understanding response was heartening. But if the rules keep changing how is one supposed to be sure one is doing things correctly? --Candlewicke Consortiums Limited 03:21, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Chicago Heat

There is a direct reference to the magazine article and nickname in this issue of SI. I will add an appropriate link as requested. All pictures of course serve some decorative purpose, however I could have picked anything, but that cover is directly related to the portion of the page itself in which it appears. Thanks for your imput. The page is almost finished. Wjmummert (talk) 15:02, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup templates

Just to let you know that most cleanup templates, like "{{Unreferenced}}", "{{Fact}}" and , "{{fact}}" etc., are best not "subst"ed , (e.g.Augustus Jackson). See WP:SUBST for more details. Regards, Rich Farmbrough, 20:04 15 March 2008 (GMT).

Ranzino Smith

Just as an FYI, Ranzino Smith was not a vanity edit. I didn't add him back in because I agree that there are too many less-notable players on the Tar Heel basketball page. But he was a guard from 1984-1988 who averaged 12 points a game his senior year and was a huge fan favorite -- the first Chapel Hill High player to make the UNC team. Ncjon (talk) 21:17, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

No problem. I'm glad to see you proposing cleanup and some criteria for the notable players list. Ncjon (talk) 21:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

whoops

I should have gone to the talk page first and then I would have seen that you already had a discussion going. Sorry. Go ahead with the previous changes. I didn't realize that you had already put some thought into this matter. Remember (talk) 16:56, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

OK, regarding the mobile phone components, I have a Nokia 6230i, but I don't have a dual SIM adapter or some other mobile phone to play with; that's why I often resort to getting images from another website, even if I risk getting shot by the admins... Image informations!

Hi there, I see many of my images were tagged as copyright violations. But many of the images I have uploaded are uploaded on Photobucket, Flickr and others. These are all shared in the public domain, and others are screenshots from Televisions. Moshino31 (talk) 14:24, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:Al Smith statue.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:Al Smith statue.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Al Smith statue.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Polly (Parrot) 23:55, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

on my edit

to van nistelrooy i know i might have used broad terms and probaly should have given more facts, i was just stating that having looked at the amount and skill of the goals this man has made (including holding a club record for one of the most popular teams in the world [man utd] in 5 seasons) and many other reasons would allow him to if not be "one of the greatest in the world" at least allow this great footballer to be "one of the greatest players from the netherlands ever" also real madrid is my favorite football team. thanks, Tom —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tniggums (talkcontribs) 19:49, April 8, 2008

I'm agreeing with Rickyk10 as well. Stop constantly trying to delete images I put up of myself so I can put on my profile. Stop singling me out. --Reezy (talk) 05:32, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Just leave my images of myself alone that I'm using for my User:Reezy profile. You obviously take things personally and need to stop being obsessive with your abuse of power. --Reezy (talk) 05:38, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Block notice

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 8 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating the three-revert rule at Brian Cook. Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

Stifle (talk) 09:47, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

I have unblocked you after investigating the matter. Image:Briancook.jpg does not appear to be a copyright violation (see the image page for a link to where it is released under CC-BY-SA at Flickr) but all the information available to you at the time of the reverts showed that it was. Apologies for any inconvenience. Stifle (talk) 09:54, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Wanted to clear up any confusion - I'm requesting unblock-auto, because I was directly blocked, but even though my block has since been lifted, I am still auto-blocked. Thanks. --Mosmof (talk) 12:49, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

heya, you reviewed a couple of my uploaded images. Im kinda new to the whole thing. Would you mind giving me some tips about uploading images? where can i get them? should i use my own concert pics? and if i took the images myself, how can i prove they're mine. Wikipedia confuses me sometimes ._.

hey thanks for the reply :D really appreciate it. that was a very good explanation :P i guess those zach filkins photos are gonna be deleted now right? can i delete them myself or should i just wait it out?

Find a new Brian Cook image then. They're not exactly easy to find. The Lakers one is out of date. --Reezy (talk) 15:56, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Yes it is outdated. Maybe you should look up the term in the dictionary. The picture doesn't reflect his current team, thus it's outdated. And where would I find a new free image since you obviously have some kind of vendetta against me? --Reezy (talk) 16:17, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
  • What I'm saying though is that if a new image can be found of him, (which I clearly asked for on the discussion page and surprise nobody responds!) then it should be used instead.--Reezy (talk) 16:42, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Re Anderson Edits

Thats ok I understand now from wat u've wrote. I wasn't having a go at u if thats what you if thats what you were thinking.

Well i did think the bit at the top was good to have on there. As a Manchester United fan so i watched him play many times in this past season and from what i've heard some soccer panalists say i think they and i consider him and to be a bright prospect in the modern game however i didn't have any refferences for that so yeah i can understand why you deleted it now. If you wish to talk back to me feel free to do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Comedian39 (talkcontribs) June 19, 2008 09:48
