Image:Chilean Train.jpg listed for deletion

edit
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Chilean Train.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 08:24, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia cannot accept material that is declared to be "non-commercial use only" or "only for use on Wikipedia". Whilst it may seem reasonable to restrict material that way, Wikipedia content is syndicated around the world on the internet and in print, frequently for commercial purposes. Non-commercial or Wikipedia-only content is therefore useless to us. For that reason, such content is marked for speedy deletion automatically and deleted shortly after. An image that you uploaded, Image:Santiago Chile 2.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Jespinos 02:17, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Image:Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.jpg. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.webshots.com/g/33/647-sh/24491.html in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article [[Talk:Image:Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.jpg|Talk page]] and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at [[Talk:Image:Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.jpg]] with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article [[Talk:Image:Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.jpg|Talk page]]. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at [[Talk:Image:Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.jpg]] with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at [[Talk:Image:Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.jpg]] saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your original contributions are welcome.

Your images

edit

Note that it is YOUR responsibility to determine the source and copyright status of any image you wish to upload and to accurately list such information on the image pages. False or inaccurate claims of authorship or copyright ownership are considered vandalism, for which you can be blocked. Please review Wikipedia:Images policies and promptly fix any inaccurate image pages of yours. If you cannot find answers to any questions you might have about Wikipedia policies, please ask. -- Infrogmation 21:55, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Santiago_Chile_2.jpg listed for deletion

edit

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Santiago_Chile_2.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. jbmurray (talk|contribs) 09:46, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to upload inappropriate images to Wikipedia, you will be blocked.

And now, fresh off your block, and without responding to this or other warnings, you've just added this image to yet another page.[1] This is despite the fact, as you are aware, that this image is contested as a copyright image you have falsely claim is you own. Meanwhile, your first actions off your block were to add two more images without proper attribution.[2][3] What are you thinking?! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 18:04, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blocked

edit

I have blocked you for 24 hours for uploading images which it seems likely you do not have the rights to, and for failing to respond to the many messages posted here. If you continue to upload such images without explaining yourself, you may be blocked indefinitely.-gadfium 02:01, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I see you are still uploading images without discussing them. Accordingly I have blocked you indefinitely. You can still edit on this talk page, and if you will enter into a discussion about where the images came from, then any administrator can unblock you. If you cannot converse here in English, please do so in Spanish; someone (not me) will still respond to you.-gadfium 19:14, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

--jbmurray (talk|contribs) 05:31, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
