Wolfram Mathematica

Why did was the picture of the documentation center removed?

The picture of the documentation center added nothing to the article and is promotional. It is also not free of copyright --Montesquieu1789 (talk) 18:26, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

How was it promotional? I took a screenshot of the documentation and uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons then added the image to the article. Would you mind linking to a Wikipedia Guidelines page? I am new to Wikipedia. I have no connection to Wolfram the company.

Please see here for copyright guidelines specifically involving screenshots. An image of a documentation center does not add value to the article and is simply promotional of it. This page has already been revised to remove promotional material (so the paid tag could be removed) because Wolfram has in the past employed people to edit its pages and plant marketing material or content that is immaterial to the topic. --Montesquieu1789 (talk) 22:27, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

So to be clear even if I own a personal Mathematica license the image is copyrighted by Wolfram Inc.? The linked article on copyright and public domain is pretty clear on taking a screen shot like that—it is not permitted. You do not have to be affiliated with Wolfram to have content flagged as promotional (though it would not shock me if you are a recent alum from the summer programs and have taken an internship editing Wikipedia articles as in years past). Adding a picture of the documentation center is unnecessary in describing the software on Wikipedia. --Montesquieu1789 (talk) 23:54, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Can you link me to documentation on Wikipedia's guidelines on what is promotional? I have not taken a summer internship at Wolfram. I understand the point about copyright but I disagree about it being promotional. Number of Employees

I think Wolfram Research has more than 400 employees.

Owler has an estimate of 500 to 1000 employees that work for Wolfram Research which agrees with Stephen Wolfram's blog post.

I have looked into some other sites:

Wolfram Research submitted that it had 401 employees to the US government on April 15, 2020 in order to get a PPP loan of $5.75 million. The Dun and Bradstreet link above estimates 395 employees. Unsure why you want to provide a different number when Wolfram-provided data says 401. Montesquieu1789 (talk) 01:02, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
