Thanks for your support

Thanks for your support at Peachy Harrison. I regret that the 19th century name sounds implausible. However:

  • Pulliam is listed in William Hamilton Bryson’s “Virginia Law Books: essays and bibliographies, volume 239” (2000) on page 235.

and

  • David L. Pulliam, Jacob N. Brenaman and William J. Van Schreeven are referenced as reliable sources for “comprehensive analyses of Virginia Conventions” by the Constitutional scholar John J. Dinan in his Biographical Essay in “The Virginia Constitution: a reference guide, part 56.” (2006) page 231.

Sincere thanks. Wherever they are not yet existing, I am trying to add start class bios for the names of the Charts of delegates from the Virginia Conventions of 1776, 1788, 1829-1830, 1850, 1864, 1868 and 1902, at least the more notable referenced in the sources and elected to more than one office. TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 18:06, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

@TheVirginiaHistorian: Glad to help. I've seen your new articles popping up, and they are a good addition to the project. Thank you. --Mojo Hand (talk) 01:47, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Good article review?

Is there any way I could persuade you to take on the Good Article review for Virginia Conventions? The nine constitutional conventions and four revolutionary conventions are daughter articles to that main article, and the start bios I've been writing are links supporting each Chart of delegates. TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 15:11, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

I actually considered this earlier. However, I don't think I can be totally impartial for a GA review, as I really want the article to be promoted.--Mojo Hand (talk) 20:56, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
It has undergone one comprehensive peer review and copy edit already from User:Mike Christie. Any referral candidates? There seems to be an administrator or two listed in the WikiProject: Virginia. TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 09:09, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
Any experienced and impartial editor can do a good article review; it doesn't have to be an admin. I normally just wait for an article to take its turn, though I didn't realize that GAR was quite so backlogged.--Mojo Hand (talk) 19:14, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Request to re-instate a deleted page

Hi there,

I wish you to reconsider the deletion of the page 9.1x20 RUCM,

I read the reasons for deletion and i understand i dont have any sources to list but i have only just created this cartridge and i have only now got images and more information to add,

I am new to wikipedia and would appreciate some guidance in making my page more valid,

Thank you Kyle Gutsell — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheKagedOne (talkcontribs) 03:40, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Hello TheKagedOne: if there are no sources yet, then the subject is not ready to be on Wikipedia. Coverage in reliable third party sources is really the key for any article to be on Wikipedia. You should also be aware that Wikipedia strongly discourages editors from writing about their own companies or produces - see WP:COI. I recommend reading and editing existing articles that may interest you to get a handle on how Wikipedia works. Let me know if you have any other questions.--Mojo Hand (talk) 14:47, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Request to restore the deleted page- Happiest Minds

Hi there, I wish to restore the deletion of page, which was deleted on Feb 13th. I am new to wikipedia and was just trying to update the Happiest Minds page.I read the the reasons for deletion but the content was added with references. Kindly help me restore back the page of Happiest Minds and would appreciate some guidance in making my page more valid.42.109.222.76 (talk) 05:47, 14 February 2017 (UTC) Vidya

Hello Vidya. I performed some technical cleanup; the main article at Happiest Minds Technologies was actually deleted by both DGG and Jimfbleak because the article was unambiguously promotional. You can ask them to restore the page, but I agree with their reasoning. Please note that if you have a relationship with Happiest Minds, you should also be aware that Wikipedia strongly discourages people from writing about subjects where they have a personal or financial interest - see WP:COI. I hope that helps.--Mojo Hand (talk) 14:21, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

A detail

Hi, this is ancient news, but just want to pass along a message that originated with a non-Wikipedian. The author of this article focused on the deletion of Chickenhead (song). After digging through all the details, it seems to me you might have replaced the page with a redirect to the album the song's on, rather than deleting it. Thought the feedack might be helpful. -Pete Forsyth (talk) 04:00, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi Peteforsyth, and thank you for the comment - I always appreciate feedback. I generally agree with redirects rather than deletion in many cases. In this case however, I thought the qualifier limited the value of the redirect. In other words, it seemed unlikely that people would search for "chickenhead (song)". Maybe I misunderstand the technical aspect of searching, but I would think the brackets undermine the value of the redirect. In retrospect, I think my bigger mistake was to remove the entry from the disambiguation page. I probably should have left a link to the album, as I see you did.--Mojo Hand (talk) 04:37, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
That's a good point. The other use case worth considering is whether external incoming links to the Wikipedia article might exist...and it's always impossible to know. I tend to assume they exist, as "redirects are cheap"...but it was a tiny stub, so there's a good chance they didn't. regardless, I think we're all good now. Thanks for the reply! -Pete Forsyth (talk) 07:44, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
I get that line of thinking—at the time you deleted it, people had to actually type "Chickenhead (song)" into the search box to get there. These days you can type "Chickenhead song" and it'll find that redirect. :-) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 02:08, 18 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the link Ed. I knew searching had improved, but I didn't know details. That's good stuff.--Mojo Hand (talk) 14:58, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

  • A recent query shows that only 16% of administrators on the English Wikipedia have enabled two-factor authentication. If you haven't already enabled it please consider doing so.
  • Cookie blocks should be deployed to the English Wikipedia soon. This will extend the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user after they switch accounts under a new IP.
  • A bot will now automatically place a protection template on protected pages when admins forget to do so.

Just wondering

Hello. Wiki tells me you have attempted to create a page title "Show Me The Body". I am curious if you tried to make it for the band. If so, were you prevented from creating it? I just created an account to make the page.

Thanks! Ian t6n5 (talk) 01:16, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Hello Ian t6n5. I'm afraid I previously deleted that page under the speedy deletion process. The problem was that there was no credible claim that the band was somehow significant. If the band hasn't received attention from reliable third party sources, then it really isn't possible to write a proper Wikipedia page about them. I hope that helps.--Mojo Hand (talk) 01:32, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

  • Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
  • The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
  • An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
  • After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.

  Technical news

  • After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
  • Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.

Request to re-create a deleted page

hi mojo we are requesting to create a deleted page there was some misconception about the previous page.. we did some research because there is less media views, sources, or news about youth players in turkey so we did deep research which we even met up with the player.. yes in our research we found out the player was U15 youth player of tsg hoffenheim but he was released because he was an injury prone type then he moved to turkey. currently his in contract with Kasimpasa S.K U18 age group in turkey.. league10 we are football press of youth turkish clubs so we requsting for wikipedia admin mojo to approve our request.. (re-create page name: ATTO ABBAS) — Preceding unsigned comment added by League10 (talkcontribs) 12:30, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

He is still not notable per WP:NFOOTY or WP:GNG. The arguments put forward in the recent AfD still stand as far as I can see. Fenix down (talk) 12:43, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
Hello League10. I think that Fenix down is correct in that nothing significant seems to have changed since Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abbas Atto. I strongly recommend that you take a look at the guideline for association football players - WP:NFOOTBALL. The guideline shows the type of criteria that normally make a player eligible for a Wikipedia article. --Mojo Hand (talk) 13:33, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
yes i have everything i mean reliable sources and secondary source about the page the issue now is some user already created the page with some misconception and it was deleted by you so i am requesting to remove the page from deleted pages so i can create original with reliable sources — Preceding unsigned comment added by League10 (talkcontribs) 13:47, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
Sorry to butt in again Mojo Hand, but to clarify, the original AfD was not concerned with the reliability of the sources, there is no one questioning that this individual is a footballer and that sources exist to confirm this. What is in question is his notability. Per WP:NFOOTY, he has not played in a league or senior international football and so is not notable because of his achievements. Furthermore, there is no evidence that sources exist that provide significant coverage of a non-routine nature to indicate GNG. Fenix down (talk) 13:54, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
fenix how sure are you he's not or hasn't i met the player don't judge so fast — Preceding unsigned comment added by League10 (talkcontribs) 14:18, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
League10 - Wikipedia generally has pretty straightforward guidelines on football players, and it's rare for youth footballers to have articles. Do you know if he's ever played in professional league?--Mojo Hand (talk) 15:22, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
Well there's nothing preventing you from recreating the page if you think he is notable, you just need to show one of three things:
  1. That he has played (i.e. made a first team appearance, not been named as an unused substitute) in any of the leagues listed here as fully professional
  2. That he has played (i.e. made a first team appearance, not been named as an unused substitute) for the Nigeria national football team, not any of the junior teams
  3. That he has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the sort noted here - i.e. not routine match reporting / squad listings.
I'm happy to review a draft created in your userspace if you think that would be helpful. Fenix down (talk) 15:44, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

yes the player does not play for his national team but he does play for kasimpasa right now and i have reliable sources — Preceding unsigned comment added by League10 (talkcontribs) 21:10, 25 April 2017 (UTC) i seen alot of wikipedia articles of footballers that does not play for their national teams and without much reliable sources but the articles still on wikipedia — Preceding unsigned comment added by League10 (talkcontribs) 21:15, 25 April 2017 (UTC) example:Felix Abuchi, Sunday Abalo, Yakubu Adamu, Muisi Ajao i know alot — Preceding unsigned comment added by League10 (talkcontribs) 21:22, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

If you have a reliable source that he has played for the first team then please present it here. If he has then he would pass NFOOTY so I or Mojo Hand would only be too pleased to restore the article. However, soccerway does not show him in the first team squad and Turkish Wikipedia lists him as playing for their under 21 team. As has been noted above, simply being attached to a club in a fully professional league is not enough. The player actually has to play in a competitive match for tjecfirstcteam to meet the minimum threshold. I don't see any evidence that this player has done this. Mojo Hand, sorry for clogging up your talk page! Fenix down (talk) 07:15, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
No apology needed. I am not very knowledgeable about the intricacies of international football and all the national clubs, so I really appreciate your input.--Mojo Hand (talk) 14:22, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

Andrew Nicol (judge)

I just saw your revert and took a closer look at the contributions of the IP. He has added negative information with a source that does not support the contentions made, he has added a date of death for a person still alive, and twice called the subject incompetent. The IP has not made any contributions to any other articles, and appears to be stable. Would a block for repeated WP:BLP violations be appropriate? DuncanHill (talk) 16:45, 29 April 2017 (UTC)

Good work in unearthing the BLP issues. The IP only occasionally edits, so I don't think a block now would do much. I am going to add the page to my watchlist - a block or pending changes protection could be options if the IP persists.--Mojo Hand (talk) 14:13, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Jordy Waelauruw

Hello Mojo Hand (talk), I am a new user on Wikipedia and had randomly requested for undeletion of few articles. Admin over there re directed me to reach out to you for further clarifications regarding this article as it was deleted after discussion and you are the concerned person who closed the discussion and deleted this article. As it was deleted because of a7 i.e. Article about a band, singer, musician, or musical ensemble, which does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject, but upon my google search and by searching the name of the subject of the article on other search engines as well, i was shown with a search showing good amount of notability to the person. And beyond this, this article can be improved with good amount of references and quality to it when it will be available for Wikipedia users to edit. Conflictoreditor (talk) 15:26, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello Conflictoreditor. This sounds like a worthwhile effort, and I am happy to help. I could restore the page and put it in userspace for you to work on, if you would like. However, I will say that in this instance, the page I deleted had very little content - it literally just listed the guy's name, DOB, genre, instrument and a few associated acts. As such, it might make sense just to start from scratch. Let me know your preference.--Mojo Hand (talk) 16:45, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you Mojo Hand (talk) for your reply and gesture to help out like such to a new user. As I am new to Wikipedia, I cannot figure what userspace is, though I tried reading from the link generated from your mention of the word userspace. Is it a talk page or something else ? I know what drafts really mean. Beyond this, I think that restoring the article and working on it will be more helpful for me and other Wikipedia users as I had not worked on any article till now.. Conflictoreditor (talk) 11:08, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
Userspace is much like draft space - it's a place to incubate and work on articles without the pressure and rules of the live encyclopedia. I think it's a good place to review an article like this and see if you really want to develop it. So, I have restored the page to User:Conflictoreditor/sandbox - you can see it there and work on it if you want. If you decide that you don't want to work on it, you can just tag the page with {{Db-userreq}}, and it will be deleted. Let me know if you need help.--Mojo Hand (talk) 01:33, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
Hello Mojo Hand (talk), I have gathered information regarding the subject of article, but I need your help with filtering it out according to Wikipedia rules and regulations. Please help me in this. Thanks. Conflictoreditor (talk) 17:09, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
@Conflictoreditor: The draft page is at User:Conflictoreditor/sandbox. I suggest you start adding information and sources there, and I will help you if I can.--Mojo Hand (talk) 18:45, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Not sure where to msg you. You removed a link from the Wedding Photography article. I don't see this as breaking any rules, it follows the rules/format as the WPJA link that is referenced [2] and Asian Wedding reference [21] Please enlighten me. Thanks 82.8.231.13 (talk) 17:22, 18 November 2017 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.8.231.13 (talk) 17:18, 18 November 2017 (UTC)

@82.8.231.13: The formatting and citation were OK. However, your edits clearly promoted a specific company, and that's why they were reverted. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for promoting a business.--Mojo Hand (talk) 04:31, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi there. Thanks for your reply. WPS is a company like WPJA who have a link on the article back to the page. tobiahtayohas a link to his own website added by himself which really is not relevant at all and promotes his own website and there is no information on the page it is directed to. Yes I run WPS but I think it is a relevant link for the page completely in following with the WPJA text. Wikipedia may not be a place to advertise but I wonder how tobiahtayohas and WPJA got their links on there as they have clearly been put there by members on the company. What if a completely random person not affiliated with the WPS in any manner wanted to edit the content in the same manner as I have?? Would that be allowed? I don't fully get it or how certain links are allowed and not others? I see multiple of irrelevant citations/links on this page clearly placed there by owners of their own company - citation [3] for example. 82.8.231.13 (talk) 12:40, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

@82.8.231.13: Wikipedia is a work in progress, and we clearly don't catch everything. I took a look at the content related to WPJA - it was definitely promotional as well, and I remove it. If you think there are more problems with the article, the best course is usually to make a comment on the article talk page.--Mojo Hand (talk) 15:31, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be mailed to you via Special:Emailuser.

  Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, a new section has been added to the username policy which disallows usernames containing emoji, emoticons or otherwise "decorative" usernames, and usernames that use any non-language symbols. Administrators should discuss issues related to these types of usernames before blocking.

  Technical news

  Arbitration

  Miscellaneous

  • Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Mojo Hand. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Delete this please

Hey, you deleted a few subpages for me a while back. I appreciate the help. Would you also mind deleting this for me as well? It doesn't allow me to put a template on it. Thanks in advance! Feedback 11:01, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Request

Hi, I'm an admin in Azerbaijani Wikipedia. We were just wondering is it possible to create archivebot and patrol system for Az.Wikipedia? --Azerifactory (talk) 20:46, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

@Azerifactory: It's certainly possible, but I am the wrong guy to ask. I am no coder. I see you've asked a couple of people, so maybe one of them is more technical than I.--Mojo Hand (talk) 22:08, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Excuse me sir, you already delete page Hari Nur Yulianto. The reason why you delete that is "He doesn't play in profesional league". But, now He play well in Liga 1 (the highest level of Indonesian league) even scored a beautifull goal. my question is may I create the page about him again? or How can this page can exsist again? thank for your attention (Luthfi Waskitojati (talk) 06:57, 9 April 2018 (UTC))
