Help me!

edit

Please help me with... Thank you for receiving my question. As I am drafting my first Wikipedia article Draft:Article, can I gently save the gathering sentences and references without pressing the "Publish" button. It was a bit disheartening to have an article to be prematurely rejected, in a form not yet ready to be seen, and at the same time lose all the newly drafted references.

My question boils down to: how can I save as I go along, and be sure not to submit to an editor prematurely.

Many thanks, Mojo18888 Mojo18888 (talk) 08:15, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Mojo18888, you added the template {{AfC submission}}, which submits the draft for review. That template should only be added when the draft is finished, which it sounds like yours wasn't. In future, just add it at the end, when you've finished, and that way it won't get prematurely declined.
Also, rejection is different to getting declined. The former means that the draft has not been accepted and should not be submitted again, and the latter means that it is not ready for mainspace, but that you can resubmit it for evaluation with the changes suggested by the reviewer.
Ping me if you need any more help. Thanks, Giraffer (talk·contribs) 09:09, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • "Publish changes" should be interpreted to simply mean "save changes". It does not mean "publish this to the encyclopedia". The button used to say save changes, but it was changed for legal reasons, to emphasize that all edits are publicly visible, even those that are made to pages other than articles. 331dot (talk) 09:19, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
