Ceoil, thanks for thinking of me when you're feeling lonely with your music! :-) I'm listening to Jaco right now. There are some bits I'm enjoying pretty well. I'm going to listen to it a little more before I fully comment on it. As for me, there's nothing I've been obsessed with lately, or any new cool new stuff I've discovered recently that's likely to blow you away. But if we're talking about guilty pleasures, I especially like Ed Sheeran's recent hit "Shivers" for one. :-) And here's [a well-known 70s/80s band] that I didn't get to listen to much as kid growing up when they were most popular, but I've recently rediscovered when I got an anthology by them that has lots of catchy songs on it. Here's a mellow and (for me) irresistible [less famous old tune] I recently discovered by another 70s/80s duo that I've always been a fan of. And here's [a song I heard often at a coffee shop] in my freewheeling single days when I taught English in Japan 20 years ago that I didn't know who it was, made a terrible-sounding recording of a bit of it (coming from the coffee shop speakers) on my camera, and spent the next two decades on a quest trying to identify it, which I finally did a number of months ago! Yeah, again, I'm not necessarily expecting any of this to be your cup of tea, but it's the best I could come up with on short notice. :-) Do feel free to share any more of your faves anytime at all. Hi Ceoil! I'd never heard of Damien Rice, but I like that song very much, very cool. I'm glad you like the Johnny Pearson one. I know nothing about the Fall but would be thrilled to collaborate, I'm sure I can find ways to contribute regardless. :-) I see you've already made a ton of edits. I'll just let you know that how much I can contribute depends partly on how much of a hurry you are to see it reach fruition; in my present circumstances right now I can only dedicate a bit (or possibly medium small amount) of time to Wikipedia. FYI, that ping won't send me a notification anymore now that I've changed usernames, but, no worries, that's nbd—like, your expression of fondness for any of the work of Ed Sheeran is far more concerning. But I concur with Ceoil about the Johnny Pearson track tho, wow. Reminds me of the library music–style jamz from the original Sims soundtrack. And that's a lovely story, carrying a recording of a recording of such a wistful song two decades into the future to finally put a name to it :-).

Very glad to have you on the case! It's apt in a way too, despite your unfamiliarity with the wonderful and frightening world of the Fall, because I regard Mark E. Smith as the best contender for the title of "the English Dylan", or "the Punk Dylan", or "the Post-Modern Dylan" (to Bob's high modernism), take your pick. This one's as affecting/epic as "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" and as cryptic/biblical as, well, median Dylan, not to mention the oblique climax is possibly an allusion to a certain event in Dylan's life circa mid-'66. —blz 2049 ➠ ❏ 07:37, 4 May 2022 (UTC)

Springsteen?

Hey there friend! I was wondering if you're planning on doing any more Springsteen articles in the future? I recently acquired Guesdon and Margotin (using that to add personnel to song articles) and might consider going through his albums from Greetings to Tunnel. (The main one I wanna do is Darkness but if I'm at it might as well go in order). I was jw what your plans were, so maybe we could collaborate? Hi zmbro! Thank you for reaching out and for thinking of me. I understand your main interest is in collaborating on an album article, but could I ask off the bat whether you'd possibly have any interest in collaborating on a Springsteen song article instead? My reasons are as follows. In a nutshell it'd seem less ambitious and easier for me to wrap my head around tackling a song in my current situation. Basically I don't have really a lot of free time or extra mental bandwidth currently. But if it was a song article I could at least partly use the "I'm Goin' Down" article as a sort of a template to guide some of my planning and figure out less stuff from scratch. I think having that would also help to keep me more focused against the distractions of real life, and increase the chances I could stay on task during the collaboration. I'm not saying I'd necessarily aim to make the structure exactly the same, but just having the "I'm Goin' Down" article as somewhat of a model would be helpful. If it happened the song article we collaborated on was a Born in the U.S.A. tune, that'd be even more helpful because I could reuse a lot of the same sources and spend less time digging for info. (But even if it was a song from another album there are still some of my sources I could no doubt still use.) All of the above reasons, plus by its very nature an album tends to be a broader topic than a song, and more ambitious from that point of view as well, so that's another reason why I'd be more hesitant to tackle an album article in my current situation. If you really have your heart set on an album collaboration, I'd say the only one I could see myself possibly tackling right now would be Born in the U.S.A., again simply because I already have a lot of the background, etc. at my fingertips and fresh in my mind from having done the IGD article kind of recently. Also a disclaimer that overall I'm quite a bit more familiar with the Boss's 80s and early 90s period than his 70s stuff. Another disclaimer is that regardless of what we might decide, I'm going to be especially busy for the next month and a half, then will have some free time during December, then busy again around Christmas, but in the new year will have time again. However, even if we did start something now, I could still chip away at the article now a bit at a time. But if what I'm proposing about a song or about BITUSA is not what you're keen on, that's of course totally cool too. In that case I'd encourage you to work on Darkness or Greetings and maybe can collaborate another time instead. :-) Moisejp (talk) 03:56, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

As I finish wrapping up Duran's Seven and the Ragged Tiger I'd be more than happy to tackle a song (especially for starters). For BitUSA I'd personally go for any of the singles but my personal choices would be "Cover Me", "Dancing", or "Glory Days". But, given the title track's significance as one of the most misunderstood songs in rock music I think that would be good as well. OK, zmbro, either "Cover Me" or "Dancing" sound good to me. Neither was recorded among the May 1982 tracks, so I'm glad we wouldn't be belabouring the story already told in IGD about the tracks being recorded while he decided what to do with the Nebraska songs, and then eventually being temporarily shelved. Also as you may know, both have interesting backstories: "Cover" written for Donna Summer but Jon Landau decided it was too good to give away, and "Dancing" written after the album was otherwise completed but Landau urged Bruce to write one more song. I'm guessing there'll be more sources about "Dancing" as (likely) more has been written about it over the years. For that reason, I'd have a slight preference for "Cover Me" in that it might be less ambitious to scour the available sources, but really, I could go either way if you happen to prefer "Dancing". Yeah, both are appealing for different reasons. One other thing: I kind of have a medium strong preference for the Harvard style of citation, but if you have a strong preference not to use Harvard, I could be flexible. I hope to have a chance to edit a bit more in the next couple of weeks, and then as I mentioned I'll be unavailable for two or three weeks after Christmas. Above you didn't mention objecting to using the Harvard style, so if that's really OK, I'll likely begin by changing over some of the existing citations to Harvard. Cheers!
