Hi Mmcusmaanwp1 - I wondered, where do you get the figure of 3333km for the length of the Somali coastline? The figure quoted in the 'World Factbook' is 3025km - that is how column 2 of the List of countries by length of coastline is ordered - from the figures in that book. I'm aware that the figure of 3333km is given in the main Somalia page on Wikipedia but that is referenced back to the same place, though quoting what appears to be the wrong figure. I looked it up (at https://www.umsl.edu/services/govdocs/wofact2008/geos/so.html) and it states 3025km and not 3333km, though of course different figures may have appeared in different editions of that book - and that could be the source of the discrepancy! As an aside, both figures are almost certainly (I might even say absolutely definitely) 'incorrect' anyway due to the coastline paradox itself so it's not worth our while getting too bothered by it. thanks Geopersona (talk) 19:21, 15 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Somali Coastline is 3,333 kilometers. edit

Fixed Somalia’s Ranking.

SOURCE ONE https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/countries-in-africa-with-the-longest-coastlines.html

Countries in Africa With the Longest Coastlines May 7, 2018

The List

1. Madagascar

2. Somalia

Somalia’s coastline comes after Madagascar’s with a length of 3,333 kilometers. Geographically, it is situated on the horn of Africa, and it is covered with plateaus, highlands, and plains.

3. South Africa

The List Continues On...

Please, leave the Somali Coastline alone; And DO NOT CHANGE. Mmcusmaanwp1 (talk) 02:17, 22 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mmcusmaanwp1 - I'm not going to change it - the source you've quoted looks fine to me but there is a problem - you've entered this figure in a column which is headed 'World Factbook' and this figure does not come from that source, so someone is likely to change it back, frustrating as you may find that. Now as I said previously I don't believe that any of the figures quoted anywhere in the table are 'correct' due to the 'coastline paradox' but at least quoting figures from a single source which we might possibly assume to have used the same technique for deriving all of the figures it offers up, allows some comparison. It's unlikely that Somalia is the only country for which alternative suitably referenced figures can be found and it may be that the article can be adjusted to reflect that additional data. thanks Geopersona (talk) 08:08, 22 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

AS NORWAY 🇳🇴 RECALCULATED FROM 83,281 KM TO 103,000 KM.

🇳🇴 THE PROOF IN THE PUDDING  🇳🇴

Length: 64,000 miles (103,000 km)

Norway's coastline length was recalculated in 2011 by the Norwegian Mapping Authority to include all its 24,000 islands and fjords, growing even over its previous estimate of 52,817 miles (85,000 km). It could stretch two and a half times around Earth.

Somalia 🇸🇴 has the legitimacy to review the length of its own Coastline and  not publish the precise numbers on public.  But, protect it in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

It is the responsibility of the likes of the World  Factbook to proof where is their SOURCE and how they've arrived a number like 3,025 km.

Not on Somalia’s.

On the other hand, if one wants to increase the numbers (3,898 km) like the World Resources Institute did, Somalia 🇸🇴 does not question Why and How, because  it doesn't change the reality on the Somalia 🇸🇴 Coastline.  But, if one tries to reduce the numbers like the World Factbook did, it only means helping Kenya 🇰🇪 . If World Factbook  changes their Numbers from 3,025 to 3,500 for example, Somalia 🇸🇴 will not comment on the Changes,  but observe from a distance .

Maritime Delimitation in the Indian Ocean (Somalia 🇸🇴 v. Kenya 🇰🇪)

This High Court  is most likely to announce its Judgements on the above mentioned case (Somalia 🇸🇴 v. Kenya 🇰🇪)  on October 12th,  2021. The Decision Announcement maybe delayed further.

You and anyone else who wants to change from 3,333 km to 3,025 km or any other Number of theirs will be free to do so after the ICJ Decision Announcement.

With all respect, as Norway 🇳🇴 knows 83,281 km is not the Length of its Coastline,  Somalia 🇸🇴 keeps the 3,333 km to be the Length of the Somalia 🇸🇴 Coastline.  The CIA WORLD FACTBOOK is just the cia world  factbook; a miniscule errand nuisance nonsense.
