Hangul
editHi Mloojm and thanks for your edit on Red-crowned crane. I'm assuming from that edit that you are fluent in the use of hangul and I wonder if you'd be wiling to help out with the Korean names for a couple of North Korean articles that I've created. Sorry - the original was correct. When I saw the Chinese breakdown with the characters, I was trying to breakdown the Korean the same way, with the possibility that it was a Sino-Korean word thus based off of Chinese characters - just pronounced in Korean. When I went to Google translate to see if this was true, I got confused with the various cranes and their specific translations. I mistakenly thought that the 두루미/durumi on the Wikipedia page was the mechanical crane. I then found the 황새/hwangsae as the possible correct replacement, then went and asked my mom whether this was right or not. She mistakenly gave me the wrong information. After you wrote me the letter stating my 'fluency' I went and made sure one more time to make sure I didn't mess it up. After consulting Google translate, getting out my old Korean-English dictionary from my student days at Defense Language Institute/Foreign Language Center, and again talking with my mom - I discovered that I was wrong and had to change it back. My bad for the mistake and the long-winded 'note.'
FYI: I'm a 2nd generation Korean American that was trained at the Defense Language Institute/Foreign Language Center in the Korean Basic Course back when I was a Cryptologic Linguist in the Army. I don't consider myself 100% fluent, but thought with my Korean mom to back me up I was good to go. I'll try and make sure I verify I few more times before I change something with regards to the Hangul language. =/ Mloojm (talk) 18:39, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- Don't worry about making a mistake, everybody does it. The important thing is that you admitted the error and corrected your own edit - which is admirable. As for the articles I was talking about earlier, they are Munsu Water Park and Masikryong Ski Resort. If you let me know the characters for these titles, I will add them in the appropriate format.
