I hope this is the correct area i'm supposed to post about this-

I went through the listen that Dr. Council provided and I found interest in Rena Wing. Her research focuses on behavioral treatment specifically on obesity. I noticed that she is also incorporated in eating behaviors, exercise, and weight loss. Since weight loss is usually something society obsesses over, I think she would be super interesting to gain knowledge on!

What do you think??

I think that Rena Wing would definitely be an interesting and very applicable psychologist that we could look into. She has completed many different research studies and had them published so that could help us find more information about her and understand her a little better. The only thing I am worried about is the fact that she is more modern so there isn't a lot of historical information about her since she is more of a modern psychologist but this might not actually be a problem it is just a thought

Another idea I had that we could look into that is on a different kind of rhythm is looking into "Shock therapy (psychiatry)". I suggest this because it is definitely something that has a lot of history behind it, there is a small Wiki article stub about it so we could go off of what is already found, and there is a section about it in the book so we already have a good source to go off of right there.

I wouldn't mind looking into shock therapy either. There will definitely be much information on that topic. The only concerns for that topic would be ensuring that nothing is being persuasive. Some people swear by it and others don't believe in it, but I think we could handle just finding the facts!

Chasity Stanczyk (talk) 18:19, 15 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

That is a good point that it will be more difficult staying unbiased but I think we will be fine we just have to make sure that we are aware of that being a problem and focusing on only stating facts rather than stating how we feel about the process. It would also be important to make sure we find information on the benefits of the procedure as well as the risks that way it won't be favored towards one bias or the other.

I think both ideas are really solid. I am not too positive on much about Rena Wing but personally Shock therapy has always interested me if we go that route. It would be really cool to give the most unbiased information possible and contribute to a wikipage about something that was a landmark in psychological treatment. We could contrast how it is viewed now as opposed to when it was a popular treatment and delve in deep into the theory behind what the therapy could do for patients. Also seeing how small the stub is for shock therapy we could easily come up with a good chunk of information

Your topic: Rena R. Wing

Hello Group 9: Unfortunately, shock therapy was a pretty popular topic, and another group got to it first. However, Rena Wing should be a very good subject. Even though she is a contemporary psychologist, she has done important work and I'm sure she gotten awards and recognition. This would result in articles written about her and her work. It's also important to recognize women psychologists in Wikipedia. She does not have an article, so this will be a great contribution. J.R. Council (talk) 04:12, 19 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
