I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Michael Blake (musician). Thanks! Robert McClenon (talk) 20:08, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Mistephake (talk) 00:00, 9 August 2020 (UTC) I have reenforced the artistic notability of my intro paragraph. The writer clearly states he gave the album his best of the year and even includes his quote form the review. 'downbeat' doesn't have all of their content archived so unfortunately i cant use their site as a cite.I'm new to writing wikipedia articles but i have tried to complete the by supporting all my merits with the appropriate refs.Reply

Mistephake, The article will be reviewed in the next couple of months. Taking a brief look, the article looks fairly well constructed, and has a good possibility of being considered notable. Sam-2727 (talk) 18:57, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Erik Deutsch moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Erik Deutsch, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Chris Bergson (Musician) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chris Bergson (Musician), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. German to English Wikipedia edit

I have a friend who has an article in german on german wikipedia. He is american and wants the article to appear on the english website. Do i create the article in english and add a template? or do i add a template to the german article translating to english? The german article is decent but it needs a lot of work. i don't speak german. Mistephake (talk) 17:35, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

There is no particular magic. If you can read German well enough to evaluate the article as "decent but needs a lot of work", you can create a draft on English Wikipedia based on it. It's not always best to directly translate. Another approach is to use the sources used in the German Wikipedia article and summarize in your own words what they have to say about your musician friend. Finding some more references would also be a good idea.
You will want to disclose your connection with your subject on your user page. Just a simple statement is fine, you do not need to use any particular template.
On the talk page of the draft, you would use the {{translated page}} template to indicate that you are working from the de-wiki original.
Ultimately, you'll need to consider whether you have enough good references to establish notability for your subject according to the criteria that apply to musician - WP:NMUSIC. When you think it's ready, you can then submit the draft. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 18:29, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
thank you! So it is ok for this musician to have both a german article and an english article? Mistephake (talk) 18:35, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
The different language Wikipediae (do you think that's the right plural?) are independent projects run each by their own community. There are a great many subjects that have articles in many different languages. The decision to include the article on your musician friend here will be based on him meeting the notability criteria; this decision is not affected by there already being an article in German Wikipedia. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 00:02, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Recent edit reversion edit

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 20:43, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I will remove the violation source. but the rest of the page was just updated material the subject had asked me to add. All of it was well within wiki's requirements. I don't understand why all of the revisions were deleted? Mistephake (talk) 21:29, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you look through the edit history you will see most of the information i added detailed his last foe years of activity and small changes to his discography etc. I don't actually see what was in violation of copyright? all the cites were legit and the information was completely true. But there must be something I missed! Mistephake (talk) 21:43, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Question re. Chad Taylor (drummer) page edit

Hi. I noticed some duplication in the Chad Taylor page, and am not sure how to correct it.

In the "career" section, the first paragraph contains this:

In 2001 Taylor moved back to New York where bassist Tom Abbs introduced him to Cooper-Moore. The core ensemble consisted of Jemeel Moondoc, Tom Abbs and Steve Swell. The same year Taylor started working with Jeff Parker's Trio with Chris Lopes on bass, releasing Like-Coping in 2003.

The second paragraph contains this:

In 2002, Taylor recorded Titration, his debut as a leader for Delmark Records. The core ensemble consisted of Jemeel Moondoc, Tom Abbs and Steve Swell. The same year Taylor started working with Jeff Parker's Trio with Chris Lopes on bass, releasing Like-Coping in 2003 and The Relatives in 2005.

Do you happen to know which of the duplicated info is correct (i.e. was it 2001 or 2002)?

Thanks for your time! Regards, Helen Puffer Thwait (talk) 23:11, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

He recorded Titration in 2002. Mistephake (talk) 16:38, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, but it isn't clear to me whether he started working with Jeff Parker's Trio with Chris Lopes on bass in 2001 or 2002. Both paragraphs state "The same year Taylor started working with..." Maybe I'm missing something.
