Contributions to Jamaican Patois edit

Hi MirandaMitchell, thanks for your recent contributions to Jamaican Patois. I just wanted to pass along a little tip to you to maybe make editing easier in the future. I noticed that you had multiple references to the same source. If you scroll to the references, you can see that each time you used that source, even though it is the same source, it appears multiple times. A way to avoid that is by "naming" the reference. Some people name a reference based on the author's last name or a keyword from the title of the source. That way, instead of inserting a brand new reference every time, you can insert a reference to the name of the source. You can consult naming references for beginners for more information on this subject. Thanks, Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:53, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank-you, Elysia. That is extremely helpful. I will edit some of my posts.

I think I may have confused you with my previous suggestion on naming references. You can see my edit here [1] showing how I fixed the issue of duplicated citations using named references. Hopefully this is more helpful! Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:00, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Elysia. I am very new to this and did not expect Wikipedia editing to be so difficult, so thank-you very much for contributing to my mistakes. I really appreciate it!

Don't worry about it! Everyone was new once and I know that contributing can be a little intimidating. The good news is that you cannot break Wikipedia, and any mistakes can be easily fixed! Don't be discouraged if you get something wrong the first time--mistakes are often the best teachers. A helpful little tip moving forward is to sign your posts when you interact with other editors by typing 4 tildes (~~~~). Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:17, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
