translation edit

Hi Mineowyn. I saw you just added your name to the list of translators for the WikiProject China. Therefore I'd like to ask you for help regarding my request (Jintang Island, placed under "Requests", on Wikipedia:WikiProject China/Translation#General). Do you think you can help me with this? Thanks, Waldir talk 12:50, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi again, Mineowyn. Many thanks for your help! I tried to incorporate the information you provided in the article, as well as other sources I found while researching for news about the accident in English (which I didn't find, by the way) to use as a more useful reference in the article than the Chinese one.
Please correct any mistakes you may find in what I wrote. Cheers, Waldir talk 21:36, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Adoption edit

Hello Mineowyn. I was noticed you were "up for adoption," and was wondering if I could do the honors? Ge back to me on my talk page. Happy editing, Leonard^Bloom (talk) 03:51, 13 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's fine. I just finished finals, and during them I wasn't on as often either. We can start whenever you want. Happy editing, Leonard^Bloom (talk) 05:14, 13 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
As much as I hate to say it, I'm going to have to hold off on adoption right now. I feel I need more time, and more editing work myself. I hope you understand. Happy editing, Leonard^Bloom (talk) 21:17, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mineowyn, I'm sorry to see your previous adoption offer fell through but I would be willing to adopt you instead. Let me know if you would like to accept the adoption either here or on my talk page. Good luck and happy editing! Stardust8212 14:10, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's fine if you don't need help until November, I hope you do well on your finals. The main goal of adoption is to give you help and advice as you need it so if you have a question just go ahead and ask me and I will get back to you as quickly as possible. I will also try to take a look at your edits every so often just to check to see if there are any issues and if I see a problem I will try to let you know before it starts causing any real trouble, better to hear it from a friend rather than when somebody shows up yelling at you and throwing warnings around. Just drop me a line when you become more active and I will know to start working with you. Again, good luck with finals! Stardust8212 16:10, 21 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Huanzhugege.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Huanzhugege.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:26, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Kyeonmiri.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Kyeonmiri.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 05:37, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!
