Are you still in need of adoption? edit

Hello Millancad,

I noticed you are or were looking for adoption by an experience Wikipedian. If you still need help around Wp, be sure to contact me at my talk page or through e-mail, and I shall help you as much as possible.--Saoshyant talk / contribs (please join WP:Portugal or WP:SPOKEN) 13:26, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hullo. Glad you are understanding how things work around here.
Regarding sources, reputable would be an important publication (National Geographic, for instance) or a news channel/web site (think CNN or BBC). Interviews are not always impartial, but they are a good source to quote the person you are writing an article about, but you have to link to the interview in the references.
Regarding the case that you know the person, no, it does not fall under original research as far as I know, but it does fall under NPOV, i.e. if you know the person, you are probably biased in regards to her. Not that I'm saying you are biased, just what the consensus would be.
Hope this helps.--Saoshyant talk / contribs (please join WP:Portugal or WP:SPOKEN) 13:20, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Iroh Pointing.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Iroh Pointing.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:08, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Possible mistake in your signature edit

Hello. The word "wrong" in your signature, ɱўɭĩєWhat did I dowrong is probably supposed to link to your talk page, but instead links to Usertalk:Millancad. I say probably, because it is possible that the link is intended, and you want the word to link to Usertalk:Millancad. If you want to change it to link to your talk page, change the link to User_talk:Millancad (add an underscore between user and talk), so that the signature becomes ɱўɭĩєWhat did I dowrong .
Thank you, and happy editing! Goldfritter 15:05, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Katara_Bending_Strait.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Katara_Bending_Strait.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BigDT 02:32, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The image (Image:Aang Avatar state 1st.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Millancad/Pictures. This image or media was removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg, so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with. Re: Hey edit

A couple of things before I answer your question. If you need an admin in the future, contacting a random one works fine, but you also may wish to check out Wikipedia:Requests for administrator attention. Second, you are also entitled to a badge as a Novice Editor (or Burba); here is the userbox.

Back to your question. You are correct that administrators can delete articles; however, they must fall under the Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion for an admin to do so unilaterally. In this case, the article probably meets CSD A7 (criterion number 7 for articles). However, there doesn't seem to be a reason to delete it when the article could be redirected. There are two possible reasons for deleting a redirect: 1) to remove the page history, if it contains personal information, libel, etc., and 2) because it is useless. Zutara doesn't fit the former, and based on the fact that the word Zutara gets ~58000 Google hits, my guess is that someone will type Zutara into the Search box, and be happily redirected to Zuko. Non-free use disputed for Image:Werther cover.jpg edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Werther cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your fair use rationales edit

You asked for responses on your talk page. I can tell you the number one reason you're getting so many bots flagging your rationales is that you don't specify the article they're being used on. each time a fair use image appears on an article you have to have a separate fair use rationale, and therefore must link to the article. Put the title of the articles up (and Link them) and the bot will probably go away. However, I would also be much more careful about communicating the purpose of each image. right now you've told me what they're not for (giving away elements of the plot, limiting the copyright holder's ability to own photos), but each fair use rationale also needs to explain what the image is for.--YbborTalk 02:23, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

EDIT: Also, be sure to specificy the source of your images. --YbborTalk 02:27, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Rationale answer edit

Have a look at the tags on the image pages. The links in the tags tell you exactly what the problem is if you follow them. WP:NFCC#10c says the rationale must be related to a specific named article. You need to say what article you're justifying fair use for. This makes more sense if it's used in more than one article -- which can always happen at some point. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Toph and Katara in Sauna.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Toph and Katara in Sauna.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. AfD nomination of List of Avatar: The Last Airbender creatures edit

An editor has nominated List of Avatar: The Last Airbender creatures, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Avatar: The Last Airbender creatures and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 00:00, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

An invitation to join WikiProject Ohio edit

Quiz Team edit

Hello, couldn't help but noticing your edit summary for the article on Walnut Hills High School, where you said you were a member of the quiz team. I am also a member, and am surprised that someone else edits Wikipedia - whenever I have mentioned it at practices I've been shouted down, because many of the team members, though they could be of great help to the project, are very hostile towards it. They, sadly, share the attitude with much of academia that because Wikipedia has a few nutters bent on vandalism all the information on it is useless and unsalvageable. Would you mind telling me who you are on the team? If this sounds stalkerish, apologies - you can E-mail me or tell me at Monday's practice if you don't want to say on a public page. About your edit though, I think you're correct, although you'd have to ask Grunder or a captain to make sure. FAVC style is the one we play at the matches, with 20 lightning and 10 alphabet, while OAC is the one we do in practice, with 30 lightning and 20 alphabet. Incidentally, in case you were wondering, I'm Joe Nutter. Joe (Talk) 03:51, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
