Copying within Wikipedia

Would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.S Philbrick(Talk) 11:27, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

Articles for creation

For some reason it wasn't mentioned, but "All life on earth" and "Stars can burn and die" address topics which already have well developed articles (life and stellar evolution) on WikiPedia. At this stage of WikiPedia's development there is very little if any scope for articles of such broad topics - new articles need to address subjects not already on WikiPedia, which will mostly be narrow topics.

Caculo mall is a more reasonable subject for a new article - there are several hundred articles in Category:Shopping malls by year of establishment (I don't know how to link to a category), so there is ample precedent for articles on this sort of subject - but you have convince people that this particular instance is notable.

There is a List of Monuments of National Importance in Goa. I would presume that these pass notability, and several of them don't have linked articles. You might ask the articles for creation people directly, but I guess picking one of those would reduce your problem to producing an article with sufficient (verifiable, non-plagiarised,) content. There's also a List of State Protected Monuments in Goa, but they may have weaker cases for notability. Lavateraguy (talk) 13:05, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

PS: The List of Monuments of National Importance in Goa was missing some links to existing articles (which I've added), though I might have missed some. A possible issue is that perhaps more than one monument should link to the same WikiPedia article - I did that with the two parts of Aguada Fort, but are St. Cajetan's Church and the Largo of St. Cajetan, for example, distinct sites, or part of the same site. viral envelope proteins

Hepatitis C virus E1 and E2 proteins are not the same as alphavirus E1 and E2 proteins. Even if they are homologous (which I would be cautious of assuming), the hepatitis E1 and E2 protein articles are too specific to be a reasonable target for a link for the alphavirus proteins. (On the other hand viral envelope is too broad for this purpose.)

Glycoprotein E1

Apart from the text being copied from https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/neuroscience/glycoprotein-e1 or a related page, I doubt that ubiquitin related protein is the same as glycoprotein E1 (you'd need to read the actual chapter to tell), and glycoprotein E1 is an ambiguous term (as mentioned above lots of viruses have envelope proteins E1, and whether they are all homologous is something that would need verification). Wikipedia and copyright

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. Welcome to Wikipedia and Wikiproject Medicine

Welcome to Wikipedia! We have compiled some guidance for new healthcare editors:

1. Please keep the mission of Wikipedia in mind. We provide the public with accepted knowledge, working in a community.
2. We do that by finding high quality secondary sources and summarizing what they say, giving WP:WEIGHT as they do. Please do not try to build content by synthesizing content based on primary sources.
3. Please use high-quality, recent, secondary sources for medical content (see WP:MEDRS; for the difference between primary and secondary sources, see the WP:MEDDEF section.) High-quality sources include review articles (which are not the same as peer-reviewed), position statements from nationally and internationally recognized bodies (like CDC, WHO, FDA), and major medical textbooks. Lower-quality sources are typically removed. Please beware of predatory publishers – check the publishers of articles (especially open source articles) at Beall's list.
4. The ordering of sections typically follows the instructions at WP:MEDMOS. The section above the table of contents is called the WP:LEAD. It summarizes the body. Do not add anything to the lead that is not in the body. Style is covered in MEDMOS as well; we avoid the word "patient" for example.
5. We don't use terms like "currently", "recently," "now", or "today". See WP:RELTIME.
6. More generally see WP:MEDHOW, which gives great tips for editing about health -- for example, it provides a way to format citations quickly and easily
7. Citation details are important:
   • Be sure to cite the PMID for journal articles and ISBN for books
   • Please include page numbers when referencing a book or long journal article, and please format citations consistently within an article.
   • Do not use URLs from your university library that have "proxy" in them: the rest of the world cannot see them.
   • Reference tags generally go after punctuation, not before; there is no preceding space.
8. We use very few capital letters (see WP:MOSCAPS) and very little bolding. Only the first word of a heading is usually capitalized.
9. Common terms are not usually wikilinked; nor are years, dates, or names of countries and major cities. Avoid overlinking!
10. Never copy and paste from sources; we run detection software on new edits.
11. Talk to us! Wikipedia works by collaboration at articles and user talkpages.

Chick syncytial virus moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Chick syncytial virus, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. The article had no sources at all, and no content aside from the infobox - please work it up in draft space, and only publish in mainspace once there is some content and reliable sourcing.
