August 2023 edit

Hello, I'm Novo Tape. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Ætla have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Sincerely, Novo Tape (She/Her)My Talk Page 17:56, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Novo Tape. I'm sad to hear that, I'm fairly new to writing pages on Wikipedia and have done some fun things in my sandbox. I would love to hear how I can make my edits more constructive.
Greetings, Mikey. MikeyMagdalene (talk) 18:39, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sure, I'm happy to help. This edit was reverted by me since it's a non sequitur and is written in non-neutral language.
The other edit I reverted contained the text "Not much is known about Ætla's early life. Annals suggest that he did not live for very long. Before becoming bishop he was a monk in the Northumbrian Monastery of Whitby."
There's nothing wrong with this text itself, but it does look like a copyright violation (i.e. the text was copied from somewhere else word for word). Additionally, you didn't cite a source.
I see that in this edit (reverted by someone else) you added a source but did not provide a page.
If you wish to re-add the info, please make sure it is not copied from any other text, is cited properly with a page number, and that it doesn't contain irrelevant statements. For help on citing sources, see WP:CITE. Sincerely, Novo Tape (She/Her)My Talk Page 23:00, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Esteemed Novo Team,
You're telling me it is non sequitur, I don't know where you got that from since it clearly states what he was doing before his bishopric was ordained.
With the citing, I had made a mistake.
I have received this information from David Peter Kirby's The Saxon bishops of Leicester, Lindsey (Syddensis ), and Dorchester, here it states "Bede records that Aetla had been a monk of the Northumbrian monastery of Whitby (Hist. Eccles. IV, 23)."
This is also sequitur, and I do not know how you have come to the conclusion of this being "non-neutral language" since it does not contain any opinions of D.P Kirby himself and is a fact stated by a trustworthy monk of the Anglo-Saxon period.
Best regards, Mikey. MikeyMagdalene (talk) 12:14, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
The edit I dubbed a non sequitur contained the following:
==M.G==
M.G is super cool.
For obvious reasons, I'm not quite sure how this relates to the article, and I never stated that your other edit is a non sequitur/non-neutral, only this one. The phrase "super cool" is non-neutral for obvious reasons. Apologies for any confusion and you're free to re-add the other statement with the source (which I notice you did). Sincerely, Novo Tape (She/Her)My Talk Page 17:47, 16 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
This I have done out of spite due to you not even closely correcting me but only saying it is non sequitur. This does not at all help.
Goodbye, I am hereby ending this dispute because I do not want to continue this childish debate.

Deletion discussion about David Peter Kirby edit

Hello MikeyMagdalene, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, David Peter Kirby, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Peter Kirby.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Pickersgill-Cunliffe}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
