Saterland Frisian Wikipedia

Hi. Just thought you might like to know that recently all the articles on smaller Wikipedias were redirected to List of Wikipedias if they didn't contain references from reliable independent sources to prove their notability. Just a heads-up, as this is likely what will happen with Saterland Frisian Wikipedia unless you can find some sources from outside of Wikimedia projects. Cuban Spanish article

Hi Mikewazhere, I've removed the section you added to this article as the copying of large blocks of text from other websites, even though referenced to the source, is incompatible with the Wikipedia text licences. To use text in this way we need the copyright holder (original site) to release the text under the correct licence - Peripitus (Talk) 23:56, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Caucasian Imamate

Ah, I'm sorry but this really has problems. I assume its just lack of knowledge on your part... Derluguian is a good author, but... ahem. First of all, I have no idea what is with that image to start with... Circassia's fight was completely different, and the Caucasian Imamate was never really popular among many of its constituents (the Chechens notably despised Shamil, and this dislike was returned; the Chechens formed bands which fought both the Russians and Shamil, other examples abound). Nonetheless, I will aid you with sources, I have plenty. I will start with Charles King's The Ghost of Freedom: A History of the Caucasus. I will also employ Gammer, Wood, Derluguian (Derluguian is a rather interesting man, especially judging from his Armenian name, though...), and Dunlop, and probably others... and Amjad Jaimoukha, if possible (I need to get my hands on his works, but they cost so much...)--Yalens (talk) 23:06, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.
