Copyvio edit

Mikemaniax, please note that you cannot include a whole All Music Guide article into a Wikipedia article, as you did for Ace (album), even if you credit the source, as you did. It's still a copyright violation. You have to rewrite the material into your own words. Wasted Time R 12:18, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Which I did, and you removed, and now I've restored. Wasted Time R 15:17, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Bob Weir-Ace.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bob Weir-Ace.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Song articles edit

Mikemaniax, please note that articles on individual songs are generally not necessary, unless the song is especially notable or there is a lot to say about it. So, for example, the article you created on Black-Throated Wind says absolutely nothing that the Ace (album) article didn't already say, and thus doesn't need to exist. Examples of song articles that are justified include, say, Box of Rain or Dark Star (song). Wasted Time R 15:19, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging for Image:Bob Weir.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Bob Weir.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello Mikemaniax! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 935 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Jamie Mahon - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Phil Shulman - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
