Your note at Talk:March Against Monsanto

The article has been nominated for deletion and you may contribute to the discussion. However, I would strongly counsel against asking friends on Twitter or Facebook to come here and "vote" to keep the article. These decisions are not made on the basis of the number of votes and a nomination for deletion isn't "censorship" or "malfeasance" - it's a fairly bureaucratic process decided by consensus and weight of arguments. New accounts that show up and vote because you have asked them to are likely not to have their contributions taken seriously. Worse, they may be blocked for meat-puppetry. Happy to help you out or answer questions, but you should have a read of a few policies and guidelines before jumping in. Stalwart111 03:37, 27 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I strongly counselled myself against jumping in here, but I assume if you bear with me you will understand how we may have been sidetracked(sp?) by, not in any way to diminish the seriousness of, meat-puppetry. My assumption was that samantha's entry was simply not on the AfD directly because, for instance, she did not realise it was separate from the MAM talk? I realise that Stalwart has assumed she/you did realise this given her/my puppet like actions. I don't know how one avoids looking like a meat/sock-puppet once suspicion has be aroused, in fact I suspect many approaches would have the opposite effect... I'm still digging aren't I? I'm hoping samantha can clear this up, I'm guessing going looking for her on twitter would not help. To support my position I would ask you to read samantha's entry again as I am convinced her words would at least result in a No Consensus as to the underlying motive behind the entire MAM entry. I would also point to the deletion notice, which for a first time reader would indicate neither "voting" nor the ease with which one might share one's thoughts, without reading the Wikipedia's deletion policy, or indeed any policy, being this is still the Terms of service packed internet people are used to... hello!--Riverstogo (talk) 08:09, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
No, perfectly fine to post here. I think if Samantha ever logs in again to have a look at this she'll get a bit of a chuckle out of it. I would hope so anyway. I don't think she had any intention of breaking rules (such as they are, in classic, vague WP style) and I would not be at all surprised to discover that a new user might find it difficult to navigate the rabbit-warren that is Wikipedia's deletion process. In many ways, posting the comment where she did was probably a good thing. Had she had an easier time finding the deletion discussion and then posted her comment there, the biting might have been more severe. But beyond that, it likely wouldn't have had a significant impact on the result itself - few AfDs with that many comments would be closed/decided on the basis of a single comment, no matter how salient or wise. Alls well that ends well, or something poetic like that. Happy editing all! Stalwart111 13:44, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dunno if you still check this but linked to your comment

Hi, I don't know if you ever check this page, it's not a big deal in any case, but please note I mentioned your comment at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Accusations at Talk:March Against Monsanto that need to be resolved. Nil Einne (talk) 06:43, 30 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
