FYI, it's generally is it not a good idea to clear negative messages from your talk page, like these. Doing so makes it difficult for people in the future to know what's been said to you before, thus inviting redundant messages, and makes it appear that you're trying to hide criticism. I strongly suggest that you restore the messages. Let me know if you need any help with that, or with anything else. ×Meegs 04:28, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

editImage copyright problem with Image:Rudi Johnson HB.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Rudi Johnson HB.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 02:41, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Please stop adding "Brett Favre SI Cover.jpg" to Brett Favre
editPlease stop adding the Sports Illustrated image you are adding to Brett Favre, and to related articles like Peyton Manning and Terrell Owens. In the particular case of Brett Favre, consensus has already agreed that such an image is not appropriate for the page because it is not fair use (please see the Favre talk page) - and please note that two different editors have undone that change. If you disagree with this consensus, please discuss your objections on the Brett Favre talk page, rather than re-adding the image on the Brett Favre page. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Joakim Noah SI Cover.jpg)
editThis media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Joakim Noah SI Cover.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Genidealingwithfairuse 13:16, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Mistagged images
editUpon your return from the block, you've immediately resumed mistagging images – including Image:Carmelo Anthony.jpg, from one of the same sources we've discussed before. In this case, the image is clearly not a promotional poster for a sporting event, nor is it used in an article about a sporting event. You've been warned ad nauseam about this kind of misrepresentation.
Although you have not edited since Skybunny's message to you, I'd also like to ask you not to upload magazine covers such as
- Image:Joakim Noah SI Cover.jpg
- Image:Adrian Peterson SI Cover.jpg
- Image:Adrian Peterson SI Cover.jpg
- Image:Peyton Manning SI Cover.jpg
- Image:Class of 05 SI Cover.jpg
- Image:DM and TO SI Cover.jpg
- Image:Troy Polamalu SI Cover.jpg
- Image:Carson Palmer SI Cover.jpg
- Image:Brett Favre SI Cover.jpg
As the template {{magazine cover}} says, the images can only be used "to illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question". That does not allow for their use as portraits for the cover athletes. This is a common mistake, and there are many covers being misused throughout Wikipedia that will be eventually cleaned-up. As I've said before, but there's more information at WP:Fair use, if you're willing to learn, and you can ask questions either on my talk page or at Wikipedia:Image legality questions. ×Meegs 21:50, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Jenny Craig.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jenny Craig.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 18:43, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Jenny Craig.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Jenny Craig.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Angr 18:43, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Barry Bonds SI Cover.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Barry Bonds SI Cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:07, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
