June 2011 Response from MichenerArt

edit

Hello. I am a staff member of the James A. Michener Art Museum. I have been updated this page due to its multiple errors. Did You have mistakenly labeled my content as not constructive and has been removed. Please revert back my changes, as they reflect the facts of the Michener Art Museum. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Michenerart (talk) 20:22, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your edits were probably labeled as "not constructive" because they were against several Wikipedia policies. For starters you have a stated a conflict of interest re: you are promoting your own interests or those of other individuals, companies, or groups. This does not mean you can't add to the article, it means you have to edit with care to to produce a neutral, reliably sourced encyclopedic article. Wikipedia is not free promotional web-space for an organization. I have done a quick cleanup to the article per style, WP:PEACOCK, WP:EL, and added a COI tag. I would suggest reading some guidelines starting with WP:MOS. Do feel free to change or add to the article, Wikipedia's goals are the same as yours re""facts" , its just those facts must be encyclopedic and verifiable by some third party, not you, me, or Michener. Thank you for responding. I would appreciate some recommendations as to how best post this article per your indications that it is not neutral. I am not promoting our cultural institution, I am merely trying to edit the incorrect information that is on the webpage. I understand that the nature of wikipedia is to have information edited by other people, and I have remained neutral in my presenting the information and presenting historically accurate facts regarding our institution. The reality is that there is incorrect information, and if there are people trying to find information on online about us, it would be great if it was accurate. Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this. I would appreciate it.Michenerart (talk)

I think your edits are constructive and can be taken on good faith (that is always assumed) so most of what I have done is a "cleanup", just formatting your edits to fit the above linked policies, removing the directly generated "Mission Statement", deleting "unprovable proclamations about a subject's importance", removing embedded external links, and restoring some old material of note. I have checked none of this for truthfulness, something that could be done next. The "Architects" section did not seem to make sense so I removed it in my "quick cleanup". It should be rewritten as a prose history of the facility and maybe add it to the bottom of the "Facility" section re: "The museum building was originally the Bucks County prison which operated for 100 years from 1884 to 1985.........".
