August 2019 edit

Hello Mfeder514. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Mfeder514. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Mfeder514|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. kingboyk (talk) 00:08, 7 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I added this same blurb below so I wasn't sure if I needed to add it to this notice as well. I am actually not being financially compensated for my editing of either of those articles (Juice Beauty and Karen Behnke). Juice Beauty is a makeup and skin care brand that one of my friends told me about in college and I am highly interested in all sorts of organic/natural/non-chemical alternatives to products so I did research between a lot of the articles I had cited on those pages after that same friend had sent them to me. After, I figured it would be a lot easier for the future if there just existed a wiki page on all of it. Sorry if it came across the wrong way but I am genuinely just passionate about the topics I added and am mostly bored while I am home from school for the summer. I hope this gets fixed as it would be nice to be both unblocked and have those articles up. Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.

Conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Mfeder514. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Request reason:

Hi! I don't know if this is how I respond to this claim but I hope it is. I am actually not being financially compensating for my editing of either of those articles (Juice Beauty and Karen Behnke). Juice Beauty is a makeup and skin care brand that one of my friends told me about in college and I am highly interested in all sorts of organic/natural/non-chemical alternatives to products so I did research between a lot of the articles I had cited on those pages after that same friend had sent them to me. Decline reason:

This is just not plausible. Your contributions were blatantly violating WP:PROMO, not remotely close to appropriate for an encyclopedia. Often, you pulled the nonsensical claims directly from the site's web page. Given that you have exclusively edited only spammy articles also edited by other accounts with established conflicts of interest, including Rachelluria and (gasp) Karen Behnke, your claims ring false. I am declining this unblock request as your block is clearly appropriate. Yamla (talk) 11:21, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Nothing in the CU records, but then the other account hasn't edited for about four years, so it's stale as hell. Yunshui  09:15, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Further investigation shows off-wiki evidence (which I won't reveal publicly without your express permission, due to WP:OUTING) that you have a clear conflict of interest with regard to Karen Behnke and I have established that you have indeed been violating at least WP:MEAT with regard to both Rachelluria and Karen Behnke. Your unblock request above is disingenuous and is clearly an attempt to mislead us. Please tell Juice Beauty that this behaviour is not acceptable and they need to stop trying to use Wikipedia as a business directory. We don't want their spam and bad behaviour, here. --Yamla (talk) 11:39, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
