Indian currency

edit

You recently added "2,545 crores" to Toyota Kirloskar Motor. This has multiple problems. Crores is not familiar to non-Indian readers and is better replaced by normal numbers - ie 25,450,000,000 or 25,450 million . Crores is not a unit of currency and it should have the unit of currency added to it. Could you adjust the article so that it uses {{currency|25,450,000,000|INR}}, which will display as "25,450,000,000". Or {{currency|25,450 million|INR}}, which will display as "25,450,000,000". Promotion

edit

hi Metilda. It appears to me that your account here is what we call WP:SPA (please read that). Every edit save a couple that I have seen from you, includes creating links to Bloomberg TV India video spots. Your activity appears to violate WP:PROMO and I am concerned that you may be violating Wikipedia's Terms of Use, which require users who are editing wikipedia for pay, to disclose that activity. I am reverting your additions of Bloomberg TV sources to articles en masse. Please read WP:COI and especially the discussion there about the Terms of Use. Thanks. went back only within september and didn't get further. i don't have time for more now. Jytdog (talk) 15:09, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
had more time and went though edits this year. This tear of adding btvin.com links to articles started in June of this year with this dif to a bloomberg anchor's article. that does not look good - that looks like you are promoting bloomberg TV india. @Jytdog: Hi Jytdog, thanks for your view point. I have read all the the articles that you asked me to, thank you for that. I would like to mention here that, to the best of my knowledge none of my additions to Wikipedia are promotional or non-neutral. Bloomberg TV India is considered to be one of the leading business news channels here in India & hence I believe it counts as a reliable source. Regarding your point of a certain bloomberg anchors article, I added a citation to the shows hosted by the anchor with the intention of increasing the reliability of the claim in the article. This was not done to promote Bloomberg TV India or the anchor in any way, however if you feel that’s the case, I will surely go ahead and revert this citation. My aim here was only to keep Wikipedia articles up-to-date with the current happenings and I can assure you that none of my edits/citations are factually incorrect. Also, some of the content that was reverted were factually correct and should be a part of the article as it addresses the latest happenings.

Thanks for providing me with a better understanding on how Wikipedia works, henceforth, I will try to keep the points that you have mentioned in mind and will ensure that all my future additions to Wikipedia adhere to the required guidelines as well. Thanks, Metilda

Thanks for replying! In general I find video clips to be poor sources. If someone wants to verify the content that the source is used to support, they have to watch the whole clip to find the bits that directly support the content, which is a massive waste of time. Text-based sources are much more efficient, all around. I recommend you at least diversify the sources you use to avoid the appearance of promoting bloomberg TV. Finally, you may also want to read Conflict-of-interest editing on Wikipedia and especially the section on PR firms. good luck. Jytdog (talk) 11:46, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:24, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
