Welcome to Wikipedia!!!

Hello MetaphorEnt! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. If you decide that you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky or even vandalizing. Below are some recommended guidelines to facilitate your involvement. Happy Editing! -- Fuhghettaboutit 03:07, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest

edit

  If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. BlueAzure (talk) 03:40, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Email

edit

Hello MetaphorEnt. Thank you for your email about the WP:COIN item called 'MetaphorEnt'. I prefer to conduct any needed discussions openly, so please make your comments on the appropriate Talk pages.

Take a look at Wikipedia:Generally notable people for the criteria for our movie actor bios. As you may notice, Google hits are not listed there as a criterion. IMDB is not usually considered a reliable source, since some of that material is self-published. Screen credits in widely-noticed movies are taken seriously. In general, an actor whose work is well-regarded by a number of reliable sources (edited publications that employ a reporting staff) probably deserves an article. Help

edit

You asked for help. Here are some ideas for you:

  1. You didn't have to admit that you were Mimi's manager, and related to Metaphor Entertainment. There are certain admins who love that you did it, because then they had a definite case to build against you for WP:COI and a case to nominate the article for deletion. But technically, as of today, you don't have to fess up to anything. There are lots of people who won't tell you that, just like the police officer won't tell you that you don't have to use a breathalyzer or take their drunkenness tests. But, you don't have to admit to anything. Admitting to stuff just makes the admin's job easier, much the same as admitting you're drunk makes the police officer's job easier.
  2. Because you're connected to Mimi, you really should have a 3rd party do the editing of the article. If I were you, I'd focus your efforts on getting Mimi in the paper, in books, or other wikipedia-quotable sources, and once she's in the paper more, post something like you did, requesting for someone to integrate the newspaper articles into the article.
  3. Edit a lot of different kinds of articles, rather than just ones you're connected to.
  4. Edit articles that are connected to Mimi, but ones that you're not connected to, such as San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Hills Like White Elephants. The better the articles linking into hers and that hers links to, the more chance you have of other editors helping with her page. Fredsmith2 (talk) 04:47, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
