The return of Namibians skulls from Germany

Around 300 skulls of Namibia citizens were taken after massacre of Namibia during an anti-colonial uprising. The skulls were used by researchers in Germany for experiment purposes. In 2011 a group of Namibia delegation went to Germany to collect the [skulls]. These skulls were taken from the Swakopmund prison camp of 1904-1908, they were 47 in total and only 20 of the skulls were returned of which 11 were [Nama] skulls and 9 were Herero skulls of the people who died after uprising against their [German colonial rulers] more than 100 years ago. However some of the skulls were not repatriated as the government of the federal republic of Germany did not want to be associated with the skulls, pretending that they are German private collection. "We can only forgive and reconcile if we sit down and talk to each other, but the German side is not prepared to talk," he said, hinting at the many requests from his community for a dialogue with Germany.” On 2011.10.05 the enormous crowed gathered at the Hosea Kutako International Airport riding horses and carrying their flags. The Namibian delegation that brought the skulls back home arrived at the airport on Tuesday, at 06h10 the citizens who were waiting for their arrival were singing, praying and mourning for the long awaited repatriation of the skull.
