Your edits

Welcome to Wikipedia. Some of your edits are unhelpful because they either contradict what the article is saying or are uncited. We work hard around here to make sure that our earthquake articles and lists have content that agrees with their sources. If you don't understand why that's the most important concept around here, please stop modifying the articles. Thanks! Dawnseeker2000 14:50, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Earthquake magnitudes

edit

I see that you are adding data on the Richter scale magnitude of various earthquakes, without a reference and sometimes contradicting the data already in the article. If you do have a reference, you need to add it to the article as well when making the edit (see the policy of verifiability); if not, I am afraid you can't add such a claim to Wikipedia. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 14:52, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Again, please stop changing the data without a reference! In 1946 Dominican Republic earthquake the reference already in the article says that the earthquake was of the magnitude 8.1 of Richter scale. You can't change it to 8.0 - you can't arbitrarily change the article to say something else than what is in the reference. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 14:56, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Corrupting the articles

edit

You found a mistake. Great, but as you can see from my previous message, I'm fairly uncomfortable with all the changes you've been making, as the bulk have been unhelpful. I'd prefer that you didn't continue messing around with the articles, but if you're going to, will you please use the edit summary every time you make a change? Thanks again, and sorry for jumping down your throat, but this is a hobby of mine, and it's difficult to watch some unknown person come in and make an absolute mess of our hard work. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on List of earthquakes in 1948 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:USGS Shakemap - 1997 Qayen earthquake.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. License tagging for File:Suusamyr landslide.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Suusamyr landslide.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

Shakemaps

edit

Hi, thanks for adding the shakemaps to the articles, but could you please upload them to Commons instead? It's fine if you upload them here, but they can only be used locally (on the English WP) and if you add them to Commons, they can be used on all the Wikimedia projects. Thanks a ton, Dawnseeker2000 23:56, 13 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello Melvansaferolee, I'm leaving this with you because there are problems with your articles, and I'm asking that you not continue to create articles on the English Wikipedia. It's clear that English is not your primary language because your articles are not understandable. That's OK, because there are Wikimedia projects in other languages, and you should edit the one in your language (I'm guessing it's Indonesian).

So again, I'm asking that you stop creating articles here on the English Wikipedia and instead choose the language that you speak or write in. Take care, Dawnseeker2000 03:26, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

List of 20th-century earthquakes

edit

Hello, there's a ref for the entry in the list for the 1946 Aleutian Islands earthquake. You changed both the magnitude and scale, but the values you put don't agree with the ref. I've said this before: our articles (and lists) need to agree with their sources. Thanks, Dawnseeker2000 00:51, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

1970 Ancash earthquake

edit

Hi again. Please don't add conflicting or contradictory values for intensity (or any other figure) into the articles. It will confuse the reader and it doesn't make us look good. The value that's in the article was taken from the Cluff paper. It's a comprehensive study of the event and is preferable over the catalogs for that very reason. If you disagree, I encourage you to start talking about your edits. This is getting to be pretty difficult having you continue to make undiscussed changes to our articles. Thanks, Dawnseeker2000 14:10, 1 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
