The New College, Chennai

edit

You have added MK Stalin among few others as alumni of The New College. As far as I know Mr Stalin graduated from Presidency college, Chennai and not from New College. Can you show reference to your claim? Thanks ώЇЌĩ Ѕαи Яоzε †αLҝ 10:23, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sultan Ahmed Ismail

edit

I have moved the article to the above name as discussed. But am still wondering why the previously existing page was removed when that was the right name. Thanks! ώiki Ѕαи Яоzε †αLҝ 21:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

PS: Can you please make sure that there are enough references when you add details or else we run a risk of losing the whole page as advertisement or our personal point of view (called as WP:POV in wikipedia language). I will try to fish out references of some of the claims in the entry, but can you fish them out too. Thanks again! I appreciate your hardwork!!! ώiki Ѕαи Яоzε †αLҝ 21:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Naseer (I'm assuming thats your name- I'm San Roze BTW)! Please go through the Wikipedia guidelines for citing. I do agree that the info you provided on Prof Sultan Ahmed Ismail is all accurate, but thats only between you and me. For us to have it on Wikipedia we need to cite references. I will quote you an example of the entry on another famous faculty of our college, Inkulab. When I started editing this article it was this state and had been taged for lacking citations. I tried my level best to add some citations and a few more info, but as you see, the state of the article page is still pathetic, especially because of citation tags. I would have thought that the person who first wrote it should have read about it somewhere, and would have made things easier for us if he/she would have cited references appropriately. I can hardly find any details about my fav teacher Inqulab on the net and all my books are in India. Anyways, If you can, try to add citations as you go on. the easiest way is to [http://www.whateversource.com/example.htm]. But my favorite way (like the one you see in Inkulab's entry) is to <ref>[http://whateversource.com/example.htm This page if from whatever on example]</ref>. Feel free to post messages on my talk page. Hope you don't find me as a pain on you back. With all honesty, it took me a year to understand these stuff and I thought it may be useful for you and moreover I see that we can colaborate in a few articles. ώiki Ѕαи Яоzε †αLҝ 03:15, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello

I'm not adopting anyone else right now. Superm401 - Talk 02:17, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adoption

edit

I've decided to go ahead and adopt you. Welcome to Wikipedia! The articles you've written are both off to great starts - but you are lacking sources for both of them. Sources on Wikipedia are important in verifying information as true and accurate. Look at WP:V and WP:CITE for information on citing sources and how you can do so.

One problem in particular I have noticed with the Family Planning Association India article is that it reads a bit like an advertisement. I realize that it is a charitable non-profit, but you need to aim to follow a neutral point of view while creating and editing articles, and you must cite all the information you put in the article. The contact details, for example, are not necessary in the article - as Wikipedia is not a directory. I suggest you read through the WP:NOT page to understand the criteria for articles on Wikipedia and what is not allowed in editing articles. Good luck to you, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask me. Ali (t)(c) 04:35, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: New article

edit

Looks good so far. However, for the references section, you might want to put in-line citations within the text - <ref> and </ref> tags should contain the links that you got information from. As I said, you can find out how to do so at WP:CITE. Good luck! Ali (t)(c) 17:39, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

Proposed deletion of File:Mayuram Vedanayagam Pillai.jpg

The file File:Mayuram Vedanayagam Pillai.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
