Disambiguation link notification for April 5

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Nick Teo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hong Ling. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:57, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Filmography layout

Hi there, if you have noted the latest article that you are editing, aka Guo Liang (actor), please look at the filmography table. This is the English Wikipedia where English is the main language. A few things to take note of.

  1. WP:CHINESECHARACTERS - To help establish a simple and clean appearance, if a term is Wikified and has an article, do not provide characters or romanization again which means all Chinese titles are removed if there is an existing English article. If there is no English article for the show, the Chinese name is provided alongside with the English title. Hence a standalone Chinese title column is redundant.
  2. WP:FILMOGRAPHY - Use of rowspan formatting in "Year" columns (ex. #2) is acceptable. Hence all the same year are merged together. Visually it is easier to see how many works an actor had done within the same year.
  3. WP:CIVIL - It is what is inside the whole policy.

Please note that the filmography table which I tidied (or the lazy "cleanup") for Peter Yu is rather accepted within the English Wikipedia. Thanks. Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 07:03, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Hi,
Without sounding offensive, instead of listing a laundry list of irrelevant policies which I am not flouting in any way, you might actually want to take a another look and see that I am actually making it easier for users to read the articles, as well as making it easier for relatively new editors to add on content. Mcdynamite (talk) 07:13, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
Hi, what I have done is according to Manual of Style and I can firmly assure you that they are relevant policies and guidelines. Please do read through them and understand them. Thanks. Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 07:21, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

April 2023

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Peter Yu, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. – robertsky (talk) 07:15, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Your recent editing history at Peter Yu shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. – robertsky (talk) 07:18, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 07:31, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

April 2023

You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (Peter Yu) for a period of 2 weeks for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:43, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Justanothersgwikieditor. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Orchid Park Secondary School, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Hi, please note that as a general guideline, for alumni, we need 2 factors in adding a name in alumni list. Firstly, an existing English Wikipedia article (Zhai Siming exists so it passed), a reference to indicate said person had studied there (does not exist and his Wikipedia article does not have a source indicating he studied there). If there is a source to link him to the school, please do add onto his article and also on the school alumni list if you wish to re-add him back. Fix My Life moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Fix My Life, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 11:59, 15 April 2023 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:Star Awards 2019 - Top 10 Female - Lina Ng.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Star Awards 2019 - Top 10 Female - Lina Ng.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:13, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright

Hello Mcdynamite! Your additions to Kill Sera Sera have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. You cannot copy the synopsis even if you credit the source as a reference when the material is copyrighted. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:03, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Veil (TV series)

The article Veil (TV series) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Appears to fail WP:NTV, nothing found in a BEFORE to establish notability which is has been tagged for since April

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
