WikiProject Java and Portal edit

I recently posted the following text on Wikipedia regarding the creation of a new computing-related project in Wikipedia:

'WikiProject Java is a Wikipedian community that aims to better organize information in articles related to the Java programming language and its platform.

  • If I'm cor-rec-to, there are about 900 articles on Java technology in Wikipedia, which may be more than ALL other programming languages articles combined...
  • At least, it's more than for C++, and there IS a C++ WikiProject...
  • And it's MUCH more than the .NET WikiProject with 82 articles...
  • There is also a Python project and a Ruby project so...
  • Now you can also see a proposal for the Java Portal (temp location).'

Please support this initiative, AlainR345TechnoWikiGeek 21:11, 5 October 2009 (UTC) (P.S. Petit chanceux, Vienne c'est une jolie ville.)Reply

Salut Mathieu, and thanks for the support. Now that we are more than 5 supporters, I gather from the Wikipedia guidelines that we CAN proceed with the groundwork, for releasing the project and portal in the open. To that effect, I would appreciate it very much if you could copy your name in the List of participants page.

Salut Mathieu and thanks for putting your name on the list. There are 2 other steps that we'd like you to take before being involved in the actual WikiProject Java: one is placing the Java Userbox on your user page (or talk page) by writing: {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Java/Userbox}}.
The second is to install the WikiProject Java Centralized Announcement by pasting the following code to the top of your user talk page:
==WikiProject Java (announcements)==
{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Java/Announcements}}<!---->

Merci Mathieu, n'oublie pas d'aller aux concerts de Noël de la cathédrale de Vienne, c'est superbe... Good, now you're part of the project team and since we are in our infancy, there is a discussion as to what we should do next, you can give your opinion here... Otherwise if you want to contribute right away, one of those issues revolves around the task of identifying existing Wikipedia articles about Java matters but NOT already categorized as such (not having a [[Category:Java (platform)]] tag or one of its children). This is important for 2 reasons: 1) we want to grow our article base from 887 to more than 1 000 fast and 2) we want to know where are the holes in the Java coverage on Wikipedia. If you decide to undertake part of that task, put your MB initials here under 'List' and go for it! Thanks for any help,
