Draft:Early Modern Art edit

Hi, I can't see this surviving Afd, especially with no refs. Bear this in mind before spending too much time on it. It duplicates several better articles we already have, & uses the wrong terminology all the time. Johnbod (talk) 00:50, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

I will consider it, thank you! mjf9089 (talk) 01:03, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hispano-Arabic homoerotic poetry edit

Hi! I'm noticing a lot of structural parallels between Hispano-Arabic homoerotic poetry and the spanish-language version of the article. Just to confirm before I put tags on the page for purposes of attribution, was this a translation of the Spanish-language Wikipedia article? — Mhawk10 (talk) 03:35, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yes! it was a translation from the spanish language article. mjf9089 (talk) 03:37, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, mjf9089,

Hello! Thank you for your commentary on the page. The thing about adding references is that the original featured article in Spanish doesn't have them. Since I only translated (as noted on the talk page of the article), I don't have any way to know which references correspond to each section. What can I do in such case? mjf9089 (talk) 22:41, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is a lot of work for the person who did not write it in the first place. I suppose you have to read all the references and the article, and figure out what supports what paragraph and sentence in the article. That will likely take longer than the original writing. We can ask user:Iqmann, though they have been inactive for 10 years. Also we learn that Spanish featured article may not meet the standards here (for DYK, GA or FA). Mormyridae and Mormyridae (superfamily) edit

Maya, why do we need two articles on this topic? It certainly feels like a content fork? Chiswick Chap (talk) 13:37, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ah, I see the page has been moved to Mormyroidea, so that's resolved. Chiswick Chap (talk) 07:13, 12 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Based on the other articles in other languages, and references and normal names for superfamilies, it looked to me as if the name should end in -oidea. I hope that is correct. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:47, 12 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

History of opera edit

Hi Maye Fernandez, How goes it. I do like these big articles your creating. The History of opera article is magic. It needs some work still. On reviewing it, Ref 33, 61, 76, 201, 254, 255, 256, 263, 350, 366, 578, 599, 651 have Harv errors. I have a script, when I review the page, it shows the page errors, i.e. on the references. For example, ref 33, when you click on it, it doesn't go anywhere. Are you wanting to repair them. It probably just needs the citation in. I see it now. "Harv error: link from CITEREFAzcárate_RistoriPérez_SánchezRamírez_Domínguez1983 doesn't point to any citation." It appears to be the one citation thats missing. A tiny overstep on a giant leap for wikipedia kind. Great article. scope_creepTalk 10:45, 2 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I also noticed in the "Impressionism" section, there is a unfinished sentence, i.e. "beginning of the xx</ref>" scope_creepTalk 11:52, 2 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
hello! I definitely didn't notice those ref details but i'll be sure to check them out and get them fixed. same with the missing sentence in the "impressinism" section. thank you so much for your kind words! mjf9089 (talk) 23:04, 4 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

History of Opera edit

Hi @Maye Fernandez: I notice there is still one reference thats still broken, ref:350. I trried to fix it. I think it either the "ref=DOI" or "ref=DOII". I'm not sure to be honest. scope_creepTalk 20:11, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

i think i fixed it! please don't hesitate to let me know if everything else seems broken or odd. and thank you so much for your help! mjf9089 (talk) 19:25, 7 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

July 2023 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from The Cerdá Plan. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox.

Please do not remove maintenance tags on articles without resolving the problems. The second half of the article in undersouced - there are no citations on many of the paragraphs. Secondly, numerous "citations" are not citations at all, they point back to Wikipedia in Spanish. Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source here on en-WP. These claims need to be sourced to verifiable, published secondary reliable sources. I noticed that the article was translated from Spanish to English. Spanish Wikipedia may have different guidelines for article references than English Wikipedia, but we need to abide by en-WP guidelines. It will be a beautiful article when it is completed. Dieleghembos edit

Hi Maye,

you renamed the page Dielegembos into Dieleghembos, contributing the change to a spellingmistake. What would you consider as source for that decision? Naming things in the English Wikipedia for bi-lingual Brussels is indeed notoriously hard (and sensitive). Dieleghembos is old Dutch spelling, where Dielegembos is current spelling.

by the way, did you notice that your OKA-colleague who wrote the article broke two of the reference links?

Greetings from Brussels, SvenDK (talk) 04:39, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello!
I used information from the wikidata page and since it didn't list "Dielegembos" as an alternate name, I assumed it would be better to rename it to the variant "Dieleghembos". If I was wrong and you think I should change it back, I'll be happy to do so, but this was my discerning criteria.
As for the references, I didn't notice them, but I can look at them later. It would be really helpful if you could also point out the error if you'd like. At OKA we don't write articles, we focus on translation, but the person who translated this particular article is no longer with us, so I'll improve some of her work overtime.
Thanks for the feedback! mjf9089 (talk) 04:47, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I double checked to be sure. All legal publications I found referred to Dielegembos, without h. I updated wikidata and added my source: https://etaamb.openjustice.be/nl/besluit-van-de-brusselse-hoofdstedelijke-regering_n2021020324
probably best you change the title again.
SvenDK (talk) 18:28, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Noted! Will change it back. Thank you for your help! mjf9089 (talk) 00:26, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks and note edit

Hey, thank you for your recent contributions to Chinese-language related articles. One note: I would take a look at MOS:ZH, the part of our Manual of Style pertaining to China and the Chinese language. Specifically: pinyin with diacritics is generally not used inline in body text; its use is usually reserved for when a transliteration of Chinese characters is requires. But that's a minor point, cheers! — Remsense 02:49, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
