May 2018 edit

Your recent editing history at EBSCO Information Services shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. GermanJoe (talk) 16:54, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Maxiedean, you should probably comment at the noticeboard. --NeilN talk to me 20:14, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring edit

I've closed the Edit Warring Noticeboard report as "warned" because you seem to have ceased your edit warring and agreed to discuss. I hope you understand that edit warring here is not tolerated, even if you believe you're "right". Further edit warring at EBSCO Information Services will very likely result in a block. I also encourage you to thoroughly read Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources before you attempt to reintroduce any other content into articles here. The fly-by-night political and activist web sites and blogs that you typically see floating around social media are not acceptable sources here on Wikipedia. --Spike Wilbury (talk) 13:19, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I would like to request that my submission be replaced. GermanJoe deleted my submission in its entirety and replaced it with his own truncated version which omitted many verifiable facts and citations including quotes from news sources. Please advise on seeking resolution. Maxiedean (talk) 13:27, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Did you read the page I linked above on identifying reliable sources? --Spike Wilbury (talk) 13:53, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes I did. Thank you for the link. The 2 references that GermanJoe took issue with would actually seem to meet one or more of the criteria listed. However, I am willing to remove the citations in the spirit of collaboration. The rest of the submission uses a variety of other credible citations that have not been questioned by GermanJoe. I would like to re-add this content to the article. GermanJoe also deleted my citation from the Green and Philanthropic Section without any explanation.

I am also concerned because I see that the questions I posted on the talkpage for GermanJoe have been deleted by someone (not me). I was attempting to engage GermanJoe in conversation to work on the article but he has not responded to my questions and now my questions have been deleted by someone. I also posted a comment/question on the Administrators Noticeboard that has been deleted as well.

Is there a way to restore my comments/questions on the talkpage?

Maxiedean (talk) 14:54, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Maxiedean, first of all thank you for joining the discussion on the article talkpage. I am honestly not quite sure, why Natureium removed your talkpage messages completely instead of fixing them, but an admin has restored your comment. The questions and remarks are somewhat misplaced and misformatted though. If you don't mind a few technical tips: please post new messages always at the bottom of the talkpage for new threads, or at the bottom of the relevant section when you respond to an already-existing talkpage thread. Secondly, when you want to respond to a previous message, post directly below it and increasingly indent your message for each new response. You'll find an overview of this talkpage convention at Wikipedia:Indentation.
Another important point is Wikipedia's "conflict of interest" guideline: do you have any connection to the company or one of the mentioned organizations? If you have, please make sure to read WP:COI and clearly disclose this connection on your user page (see more details in the linked guideline). Editing with a conflict of interest is strongly discouraged, but editors in this situation are welcome to suggest content changes on the article's talkpage.
And a last point: editors here are volunteers and will respond to questions and comments in their own time (most often days, but sometimes weeks) without a specific schedule or deadline. Most content disputes are usually not resolved in 1-2 days. We will have to wait for other interested editors to chime in aswell.
I hope these general tips are helpful. We should post any content-related specific comments at the article talkpage though to avoid fragmenting the content-related discussion between 2 different pages. GermanJoe (talk) 16:46, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I have started a new separate thread to clarify some of the concerns with your additions in relation to Wikipedia's guidelines. This thread should also answer some of your previous questions in other threads, but I did post all my thoughts in 1 thread to avoid further confusion and fragmentation of the discussion. On a quick sidenote: 4 other editors have reverted or removed similar content in the past. Please do not describe this dispute as the concerns of just 1 editor, when many other experienced editors seem to share similar concerns (or they wouldn't have deleted similar previous content). Thank you. GermanJoe (talk) 17:43, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
