Speedy deletion nomination of Maurice John Jackson edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Maurice John Jackson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Mkdwtalk 23:45, 20 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of How to perm edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on How to perm requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Revolution1221 (talk) 23:46, 20 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Boston College edit

It appears there has been a flurry of activity from students at Boston College who are rapidly creating articles about themselves and the university. Could you please put me in touch with the professor who has assigned this task to their students to help sort out confusion and answer questions in regards to Wikipedia guidelines and policies. Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.

Bunch of reversions I made edit

I made a couple of reversions to edits you made on April 2, 2013, because none of them were backed up by citations. Please note that all new information inserted into articles should be backed up by evidence for that information being true, or it may be subject to removal or reversion. The articles affected are: Tyra Banks, Bobbi Brown, The Jessica Simpson Collection, Spanx. I've stated the reason for the reversions in the edit summaries. I'll quote them here:

  • 19:05, 9 May 2013 (diff | hist) . . (+68)‎ . . Tyra Banks ‎ (→‎Early life: 1973 - 1979 = 6, and not 8. Information retrieved from earlier revisions. The article mentions that Devin Banks was born in '68, which means he is only five years older.) (top)
  • 18:51, 9 May 2013 (diff | hist) . . (-2)‎ . . Bobbi Brown ‎ (Undid revision 548251129 by MauriceJackson24 (talk) Cite says three, not five.) (top)
  • 18:49, 9 May 2013 (diff | hist) . . (-4)‎ . . The Jessica Simpson Collection ‎ (Undid revision 548254106 by MauriceJackson24 (talk) new information does not match old citations... Prefer old, correct information to new, dubiously PRish information. Also, sp.) (top)
  • 18:42, 9 May 2013 (diff | hist) . . (0)‎ . . Spanx ‎ (→‎Ownership: the number 120 is mentioned nowhere in the citation... Information must match citations exactly. If the employee number is indeed more, please find a source saying so and update the date as well.) (top)

Note that in 'updating' the information in the articles without new sources, you have in effect removed the useful and cited information that was there before.

If you feel that I have done something wrong and object to what I have done, I'm happy to sort it out. If you have updated citations (links to news articles, journals, or references to books, anything which proves information), you can list them (just paste the raw links if you like, in this page or in my talk page), and I'll be happy to do the work of putting the information in that I have removed.

For more information on Wikipedia's policy regarding these matters, see Wikipedia:Citing Sources and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. --BurritoBazooka (talk) 18:20, 9 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

appendix: If you're a new editor, I would suggest editing grammar, spelling, and sentence syntax at first. In doing that, you will find out about Wikipedia's policies and conventions as you go along... That's the path I followed :) I don't blame anyone for not wanting to read all of those policies before wanting to edit. So I think encountering these policies as one goes along is better. Some of the "Wikpedia:" pages have "This page in a nutshell" sections at the top, summarizing the page contents in a single sentence. --BurritoBazooka (talk) 19:02, 9 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
