Hello, Mattmorton, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Adam and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Hey Matt! I really enjoyed your edits to the sports page. I fully understand this topic was rather difficult to bridge simply because of the attention paid to this particular topic already. Your extensive additions about racism regarding the careers of different important officials and leaders in the sports world was nothing short of fascinating. Also, the extra information on Jackie Robinson was incredibly informative and helped guide the narrative along nicely. The paragraph about Kelly Tilghman (what the....) was very well written and tied in nicely with the rest of the piece considering it connects the actual act of potential violence coupled with racism. All of your sources are well-cited and couldn't find any areas that need more citations. Nicely done! Lalalua (talk) 21:19, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Peer Review

edit

Contrary to the other student that was assigned to the same article, you made substantial edits that fit well with the content already existing. You added relevant content and well-cited information to College basketball and Golf, which help completing the article.

Furthermore, I will just insert what I suggested to the other student editor:

- Go to the similar article Race and sports (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_and_sports) and see what is redundant and/or can be added to the one you were assigned to. Racism in sport goes further into detail and there are a lot still ongoing examples of racism and discrimination, you could add some important cases.

- The sub-heading Cricket in the Racism in international sports section is missing the year of the happening. You could try and find the event that the previous editor wanted to refer to. - Most of the sub-headings in Racism in international sports are rather short and general. You could probable expand on e.g. the Australian football (since there is a proper wikipedia article on Racism in Australia) and/or merge that one sentence with Association football. - You might also want to add Hitler's unwillingness to shake hands with African-American gold medalists. There is a lot of controversy among historians if he actually ended up shaking Jesse Owens' hand for example, a good contribution to the article to my mind. - In general, I would say that this article is very American-centered (it says American sports and then international sports). You might want to rethink the organization of this article.

Good job!
