I'm quite fond of Portland, yes. Between the city, the mountain, the gorge, and the coast I couldn't see myself living anywhere else.

Film vs. Movie

It's not pointless. The article itself implies what my comment said explicitly. It's elitist snobbery. It caught my attention when I saw these various articles being methodically changed from "____ (19xx movie)" to "____ (19xx film)" by people who apparently have too much time on their hands and regard "Movie" as the vernacular of The Great Unwashed. The only way the article implies it is if you consider academics and elitists (or snobs) to be synonymous. I'd say the article explains why film is preferred quite simply: movie is a colloquialism. If that isn't sufficient, the rationale behind the choice of film for the article name rather than movie has already been hashed out in the article's talk page archive. --Mattmcc 17:42, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

You've made precisely my point. It's the "vernacular of the peasantry", and is therefore unworthy. If you've ever seen "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and would call that piece of trash a "film", you should win an award of some kind. Wahkeenah 23:33, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

It's not a question of worthiness, but simply formality. This is, after all, an encyclopedia. As such, formal terminology is preferred. In any case, the comment I removed wasn't NPOV. So even if it did have a point, a Wikipedia article isn't the place to make it. --Mattmcc 02:46, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

It's snobbery. This is not new. Decades ago the point was made by sarcastic sorts that Ingmar Bergman's pictures were to be called "films", not "movies". Wahkeenah 02:58, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Tualatin

I noticed that you've done a lot of work on Tualatin and other cities in the Portland area. I also live in Tualatin, and although I am new to editing here on wikipedia I am quickly falling in love with it. I'm planing some additions, and to continue to update the Tigard-Tualatin area.
