Editing headers

edit

I have e-mailed you with a question: I would like to know how the header of a Wikipedia page can be edited, since there is no edit link for the headers. But there are headers that need clarification. Dudewiki (talk) 23:52, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am not Matthew, but maybe I can offer an answer. Perhaps you mean changing the title of a page. Established users get a move link in the top right (near the search box) for renaming a page. If you don't mean that, please could you post a couple of examples of what you would like to change. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 22:05, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Soho20 Chelsea

edit

Hi, I received your name from Wikipedia:Highly Active Users/North America and wondered if you could help me out with something. I tagged Soho20 Chelsea for clean-up a few days ago and I'd like to start some clean-up, but all of the information from the site appears to be a copy-paste from http://soho20gallery.com/about/organization-history/ . That of course sends off copyvio alerts, but I'm not seeing that this information has been copyright protected on this or other site pages.

Before I go along with that assumption, do you know if there's a way to tell? Or does the absence of the copyright notification mean it's not protected?

Per your comment at the top of your page, I will "watch" this page. Thanks!--CaroleHenson (talk) 01:20, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Request for Help: May have activated a strange setting

edit

I saw your name on a list of individuals offering assistance. I'm stumped, and thought someone with more experience might know the answer. It has to do with data displayed at the bottom of the page, during edit mode. Just a very long list of words which I believe are unrelated to the article or each other. A directory of some sort, perhaps. Only happens at Wikipedia, and only during edits. Just bought a new computer, with Windows 7 professional, and thought that I may have accidently activated a setting which creates that display... The list goes on for the length of two pages. Here is an example, just a short cut and paste: Canada RoadsCe-fluxCounter-Vandalism UnitGuild of Copy EditorsGreat Backlog DriveHäggström diagramsTamravidhirLiberalism task forceMathematicsQRpediaRandom Picture of the DayUnique IdentifiersVolcanism of Canada WorkgroupWestern New YorkWikipedia CD selectionWikipedia Club Pune24A Song of Ice and FireA1 Grand PrixAbandoned ArticlesAbandoned DraftsAbkhaziaAbortionAcademic JournalsAccessibilityAdelaideAdoption, fostering, orphan care and displacementAerosmithAfghanistanAfricaAfrican diasporaAgricultureAIDSAirsoftAkanAlabamaÅland IslandsAlaskaAlbaniaAlbumsAlgaeAlgeriaAlienAlternate HistoryAlternate Reality GamingAlternative educationAlternative medicineAlternative musicAlternative ViewsAmateur radioAmerican footballAmerican Football LeagueAmerican Open Wheel RacingAmphibians and ReptilesAmusement ParksAnatolian Civilizations task

Books & Bytes New Years Double Issue

edit
Books & Bytes

Volume 1 Issue 3, December/January 2013

(Sign up for monthly delivery)

Happy New Year, and welcome to a special double issue of Books & Bytes. We've included a retrospective on the changes and progress TWL has seen over the last year, the results of the survey TWL participants completed in December, some of our plans for the future, a second interview with a Wiki Love Libraries coordinator, and more. Here's to 2014 being a year of expansion and innovation for TWL!

The Wikipedia Library completed the first 6 months of its Individual Engagement grant last week. Here's where we are and what we've done:

Increased access to sources: 1500 editors signed up for 3700 free accounts, individually worth over $500,000, with usage increases of 400-600%

Deep networking: Built relationships with Credo, HighBeam, Questia, JSTOR, Cochrane, LexisNexis, EBSCO, New York Times, and OCLC

New pilot projects: Started the Wikipedia Visiting Scholar project to empower university-affiliated Wikipedia researchers

Developed community: Created portal connecting 250 newsletter recipients, 30 library members, 3 volunteer coordinators, and 2 part-time contractors

Tech scoped: Spec'd out a reference tool for linking to full-text sources and established a basis for OAuth integration

Broad outreach: Wrote a feature article for Library Journal's The Digital Shift; presenting at the American Library Association annual meeting
