Objective criteria for episode notability edit

I've attempted to synthesize the discussion. Again, feedback welcome.Kww (talk) 18:35, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Degrassi: The Next Generation edit

  1. The italics-I've seen Degrassi alone italicized like this in other media, that's why I said this.
  2. The cast section is indeed extremely confusing. Think about it like a person who has never seen Degrassi before. As I said, I'm a closet Degrassi fan, so I understood it to some degree. Even I had to read it several times to get the full gist of it, though. The section basically throws a bunch of names and seasons at the reader all at once. It's information overload. I had a similar problem with an article I got up to GA status, Last of the Summer Wine, a show which also has a large cast and used a table to describe the decade in this case that each non-main cast member joined the series. Whether you use a table or not is up to you. However, it is bad form to simply have seven different paragraphs with a group of names in each paragraph.
  3. For the first run broadcast table suggestion, see Smallville (TV series)#Reception.
  4. You're probably right about the syndication information. It could probably be combined with something else. With the stations, it could become overwhelming as you're inviting everyone in the US with a station that airs reruns to add their station to the list. (I know that my local station back in the states that airs reruns is not on the list.)
  5. Just a suggestion, for some tidbits on casting, check the DVD special features for the first couple seasons. I remember it having something on casting.

Hope this helps. Cheers! Redfarmer (talk) 09:01, 22 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Help desk request edit

Hey there! I fixed up your table. I think that's how you wanted it. If you need any more help, feel free to respond here or on my talk page. Cheers! --omtay38 06:27, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I knew it could be done in HTML, but I'm still not used to wikitables. -- Matthew Edwards | talk | Contribs 00:01, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

AWB edit

I saw your question about the AWB reference tags. If you go to the (2) Set options and check general fixes, then AWB should fix what you are asking. I am pretty sure the programmers implemented that feature in the last release. If it is not then you should bring it to the AWB bug page along with your example. I have been working on cleaning up the AWB manual the last few days. So I ask what is so confusing? And how can we make it better? AWB is really a program that can do so much that it's hard to document it. It looks like they would implement a feature and forget to put it in the manual. I just asked about the subst: section and they really could not explain it to me either. Jeanenawhitney (talk) 17:08, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

A-ha! You're right, it did fix it! I've only had AWB for seven days, or so, and when I looked at the manual, I thought it very confusing. I noticed you said you planned to fix the manual up, and that it "confused the heck" out of you when you started. To be honest, I hadn't rechecked the manual since then to see if it had been worked on, but I will do that now. I'm also thinking of copying the content of an article into my sandbox, and play with AWB on it, until I figure out what everything does.
The only way I can describe the use of "subst:" is to say that if you wanted to put, for example, a userbox on your userspace and you typed {{Subst:User:Matthewedwards/Userboxes/Whangarei}}, you'd get
(Image removed for style and formatting reasons)
and it would stay that way forever even if I changed it to say "This user lives in Lancaster, California". However, if you typed {{User:Matthewedwards/Userboxes/Whangarei}} without the "subst:", you would see every change I made to it. I don't know if this helps you any for the manual, but that's the basic principal behind it.
I do have a question about it when an article doesn't have any categories. Is there a way AWB to find the article when that happens? -- Matthew Edwards | talk | Contribs 17:55, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have another question. When I load up the categories, for instance, Category:Degrassi, why doesn't it bring up the subcategories Category:Degrassi characters, Category:Degrassi: The Next Generation, Category:WikiProject Degrassi and Category:Degrassi images? -- Matthew Edwards | talk | Contribs 18:15, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
See the new manual Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/User manual#(1) Make list and read the section, Make from. (hint. it's recursive). Jeanenawhitney 15:36, 31 January 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeanenawhitney (talkcontribs)
I found it. I guess I should read the entire manual right now! -- Matthew Edwards | talk | Contribs 23:03, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
