invite to {{bodybuilding}} wikiproject

edit

Hi, I'm one of the last active editors in WikiProject Bodybuilding; I restored the link you added on the bodybuilding article, as I recognize it as a well-known publication in the sport, which the deleting editor apparently did not do; and it's less "spammy" than a lot of major regular news magazine and newspaper sites. Part of the problem with bodybuilding articles per wikipedia's parameters re "reliable sources" is that many bodybuilding sites do not qualify under ordinary circumstances; which has meant some prominent bodybuilders' articles have been deleted, or threatened with same, because information on them is carried on "blog" or other ad-heavy site...but that's the nature of the sport/business, which is intrinsically promotional and self-referential. For contest result articles, bodybuilding.com is regularly used because, as both you and I know, the "regular media" ignores bodybuilding and bodybuilding events; there's also a bias against "local media" per WP:Notability guidelines which "demand" major news sources....I could go on, but it's complicated, I'm here to advise only as "you're new here" and the game is complicated (Wikipedia I mean). I'd recommend you work on expanding articles on certain topics, and use the links as citations, as just adding them across several articles at once will be perceived as "spamming". Also, noting your Steve Shaw drafts, you should have a look over WP:COI and WP:AUTO, and note also for future reference WP:NPOV...and the other two links above.

It occurred to me seeing your edits you might know what I'm talking about on Talk:Bent press vs the "Hepburn press", as to whether they'res the same thing or not....also, recently, there was some merging of strength athlete and strongman titles and categories....by people not familiar with the subject; so I'm totally encouraging you to stick around and try and have a look around the bodybuilding and related categories; there used to be several more editors around but the project is fairly dormant of late so any new blood with expertise in the field is more than welcome to expand what's out there and create more....also because of the self-promotional nature of the sport, and female bb'ers being more assiduous in seeking out and inviting press coverage....adn them being less stigmatized by media than male bb'ers, the availability of sources on them means that there are a lot more of them in various categories; and many notable men are missing, or so under-cited it's only a matter of time before they get deleted; because of the sea of builders out there, parameters for inclusion re notability and more, like those the group working on MMA articles has done (I find their parameters systemically biased in favour of US and certain other country "leagues" and athletes, but never mind that for now), need developing; but have a look around first; best way for us to confer at this point is hit me up via email (go to my user or talkpages, and look for "email this user" at left). It's late where I am, just wanted to send some friendly tips and an invite to collaborate; I have a list of bios needs doing, and there's contest/championship lsits that need citation ...and finding those, ones the are "acceptable" to the wiki-community at large, is a challenge.Skookum1 (talk) 15:55, 14 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:Steve Shaw (writer)

edit

Hello Massiveiron. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Steve Shaw".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Steve Shaw (writer)}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 15:49, 15 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
