Welcome!
editHello, MarwaSalayma, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:
- Introduction and Getting started
- Contributing to Wikipedia
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page and How to develop articles
- How to create your first article
- Simplified Manual of Style
You may also want to take the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia.
Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! Quotations
editPlease do not add quotation sections to articles. They are discouraged on Wikipedia, because they belong on Wikiquote. Scroll down to the bottom of Hedy Lamarr. In the external links section you will find a link to the relevant Wikiquote page. That's where quotations go. Thanks. Skyerise (talk) 16:10, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
Categories
editPlease make sure that a category exists before adding it to an article. Also, you may want to look into our titling conventions. In nearly every context on Wikipedia, only the first word and proper nouns are capitalized. This applies to article titles, headings, and category names, among other things. Thanks, Skyerise (talk) 16:18, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
Welcome!
editHello, MarwaSalayma! Thank you so much for coming to the Napier Connect Editathon yesterday - it was great to meet you all!
Now that we've created your userpage and learned the basics, I hope that you'll stay logged in and have a go at editing some articles. Don't worry about being perfect, Wiki is a constantly evolving entity. Fortunately there's a whole team of editors just like you who can help.
You can't break Wikipedia, but in case you're still nervous here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Is your topic notable enough for an article?
- Be Bold!
- Don't let grumpy users scare you off.
- Learn from others
- How to write a great article
- A simplified manual of style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Remember, if you are writing on a talk page, please sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date.
If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and ask your question there. See you soon!
Oh and...
