Thanks! (re: one millionth article) edit

Thanks for your kind words! --Nach0king 09:29, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bah! I know this thanks are just to lull me into a sense of complacency so you can steal the 2 millionth article which all know to be rightly mine. --maru (talk) contribs 15:07, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

You have really helped me with editing example when I first started you nagged me to sign my comments, then you helped me with charts such as TIE Crawler, then you said no copyvios and constantly you put up with my pitiful editing. Thanks really. --Dr. Mahongany

You're more than welcome. --maru (talk) contribs 15:09, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Edit Counts edit

Hey, you know you can just link to an edit counter like Interiot's tool rather than manually updating the count, right? --maru (talk) contribs 18:19, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do you mean like edits?user=Dark jedi requiem&dbname=enwiki p this or is there a way to make it graph it on the page? (For people too lazy or uncaring to click the link.) --Dark jedi requiem 23:37, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
So far as I know, there is no way to have a template or anything show updated results automatically- I mean, short of having a script or program fetch the results periodically, generate an image or textual representation in some way, upload that representation, and edit a page adding that representation, but that's a lot of work and is error-prone. --maru (talk) contribs 15:06, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey - possible revenant? edit

Is it me, or does User:JediOrder remind you a bit of stormtropr? He makes a series of awkward edits, although how he mainly focuses on uploading his "own" images and messing with wikilinks... --Deckiller 02:57, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

He does, a little, but he doesn't seem to have the same obsession with the infoboxes. --maru (talk) contribs 15:11, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

My RfA results edit

Thank you for your constructive critisizm during my RfA! It has decided to postpone making me an administrator based upon recent consensus (or lack thereof). Thanks for the kind remarks and I hope to continue to see you around the project. Cheers, ZsinjTalk 08:36, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

You just went in too early, Zsinj. My advice is to wait a few months, and maybe spend those months collaborating with other users on some articles- peer review and FAC are good places for that, or you could join a WikiProject. It's a good idea to have a few superlative articles to show you can do more than just handle recent changes. --maru (talk) contribs 14:38, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Help me, Maru edit

Help me please, My username is User:Xchrisblackx but I tried to get on today my password was changed and I got a vandal warning the only way I can prove to you this is me is my name is Dr. Mahogany and my old password was rocker what can I do? Just put any help you have on my talk page. --Anon.

Sorry- I can't help. That account doesn't seem to be blocked, and I have no way of knowing that you are in fact who you say you are. Even were I inclined to help, the best I could do is block the account- admins can't change the password or anything like that. --maru (talk) contribs 14:36, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Is there anything I can do? --Anon.
Start a new account and protect your password better this time? That password is the only proof the servers, and by extension, the rest of us, can have that you are who you say you are. --maru (talk) contribs 15:02, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Sorry to bug you. One more thing, is there a possible way to find who this guy is? --Anon.
You could ask for someone with Checkuser to look into the various IPs that have logged into that account. That's the cloest you can get. --maru (talk) contribs 15:41, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Can you tell me a user with one? --Anon.
Wikipedia:Requests for CheckUser. --maru (talk) contribs 17:43, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Y'know Kross, allusions are funnier when they aren't pointed out... --maru (talk) contribs 18:38, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Illuminatus! peer review edit

hi, you complained in Wikipedia:Peer review/The Illuminatus! Trilogy/archive1 that there was not enough plot summary. can you check the article again and see if its ok now? The Illuminatus! Trilogy. Thanks. --Zzzzz 21:08, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, it's adequate now. However, to be better, it still needs to cover some of the more interesting ideas and amusing plot turns and elements, IMO. --maru (talk) contribs 01:33, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
The Illuminatus! article is now up for "featured article" status. please go to Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/The Illuminatus! Trilogy to vote Support or Oppose with your comments. cheers. --Zzzzz 17:55, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Changes to the Virtuozzo Content edit

Hello, I am just learning to look at the history on Wikipedia, and I see that you have made some content changes to Virtuzzo. The changes are interesting and I see just the first change you say "relatively" isolated. Can you please clarify for me why you changed isolated to relatively isolated? On what are you basing this characterization? Thanks. --Carla

Because it is a software solution, not virtualizing at the hardware level; I believe it must be inherently less isolated than isolation done at an even lower level. --maru (talk) contribs 22:25, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Small Problem with vandals edit

I'm unblocked but it seems that under Checkuser all vandals that vandalize my userpage are from my area? --Dr. Mahogany

Well, then- that tells you where to start looking for the responsible parties. --maru (talk) contribs 16:56, 9 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
I guess you're right but where to start? --Dr. Mahogany 17:30, 9 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Your home, libraries, schools? Those all seem likely areas. --maru (talk) contribs 07:16, 26 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
