Thanks! (sig) edit

... but I was already on top of that. I've switched over to a sig.js format, thus protecting my sig from everyone but me. Not that I plan to change it, as I think it's quite pretty. The existing template will remain in place, unchanged, thus sparing the overworked servers any hassle.

Ought to never be an issue, because of how the mediawiki software actually handles templates. Thanks again for your attention to this matter! =)

Warm Regards, Adrian~enwiki (talk) 05:19, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I still think templates are a bad idea for sigs, if only for the example they set, but I doubt I will get you to change your mind. --maru (talk) contribs 05:23, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well. I don't know about setting any example, but I like to think readers will appreciate not having to wade through another HTML clutter when they read edit a talkpage or vote.
I'm not needlessly stubborn though. If a dev shows me how my template .sig is harming Wikipedia, I'll drop it in a split second. This isn't some kind of WP:POINT thing; I'm sensitive to the community.
Thanks for replying. Adrian~enwiki (talk) 05:33, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hey hey! Don't lump me in with the crazy HTML users- I hate them even more than sig template users. My sig is tasteful, simple, and short. --maru (talk) contribs 05:40, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
...However, it lacks the refinement and tasteful simplicity of my own. --ZeroTalk 05:51, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
As long as I know there's someone out there you hate more than me, I'm a happy man :) Adrian~enwiki (talk) 05:55, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
That's the spirit! The best revenge is... writing well? Leaving lots of sigs? (Or something like that?) --maru (talk) contribs 06:10, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Or maybe I'll just redact your line breaks here and there *cough* :x Adrian~enwiki (talk) 06:24, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
You tread perilously close to lese majeste and forget my station. :) --maru (talk) contribs 07:05, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Do I? Remind me of it, and I'll add it to my sticky-notes :) Adrian~enwiki (talk) 07:49, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Because I'm a thoughtful kinda guy, I went and found a developer. From what I've been told, the main problems are A. Changes to the .sig by the user, and B. Vandalism. So for now, it's not causing any problems :)
I'm apparently also a dick, but that's another matter. It's not the .sig's fault I'm a dick. Adrian~enwiki (talk) 08:01, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Brenda nickname edit

"Brenda" is a nickname for the Queen from Private Eye that's still used in some circles. There's a section on it in the Private Eye article. --Dtcdthingy 13:30, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I see. Thanks for responding, DTCD. I created a disambig at Brenda a while ago, but I've added that tidbit in. --maru (talk) contribs 16:19, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey man - SWP edit

Thanks for fixing up the project page a bit; do you plan on joining? You are one of the Star Wars article masters, after all :) --Deckiller 20:20, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Flattery will gain you much. I'm not sure I will join- I've been winding down my SW-related article activity, so I don't know how much I could contribute. --maru (talk) contribs 20:35, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay. It is true, though! --Deckiller 20:36, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kraken Reports on the Squid cache Wikipedia entry edit

Hi, I was just wondering why you removed my entry in the add-ons section. If there is reason for not having it there I apologize for putting it there. looking forward to hearing back from you. --Leigh Finch

I reverted your edit because you removed an entire section. --maru (talk) contribs 17:37, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hi I just checked the history, my IP Address was and still is 202.87.30.12, the IP address that removed the reverse proxy section was 66.67.115.233. Do you mind if I put my entry back in?
I can't guarantee anything, but if you don't remove anything, I probably won't revert it (as your link seems legitimate). --maru (talk) contribs 01:40, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Doobie Brothers "On Our Way Up" edit

All Music Guide. --DCEdwards1966 17:51, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

OK then. Thanks. --maru (talk) contribs 18:22, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

SW template idea edit

That's an awesome idea, and it would save a lot of tedium. --Deckiller 18:20, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Glad you like it. Too bad there is no easy way to get a list of SW articles with tags like cleanup, wikify, merge etc. on them, though. --maru (talk) contribs 18:22, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'll start combing through the articles and adding any templates I see to the ToDO page. I also think the Todo page may need to be reformatted to conform to the various tags instead of general desciptions. --Deckiller 18:26, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I started an index of the fair articles. Think that's a way to do it, maybe make our own "good article" list and place the template on those, so people know that it's a decent one? --Deckiller 22:58, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
It's looking good. I added a bit about fanon and inaccuracy, but overall the criterion look pretty solid. I guess what we are trying to get at is that the template should only be on the talk pages of articles which aren't in need of attention, which can be left in maintenance mode. It'll take a while to tag all the articles methinks. --maru (talk) contribs 23:09, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, sounds good. I agree; it'll take a few hours to sort through. Perhaps interested people can split up and review different categories. It's time for dinner though, ^ ^ so I'll be back in a bit. --Deckiller 23:11, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I just started a capital ship list for all the minor/small capital ships, although there are probably a few that can be split again. --Deckiller 00:56, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'll keep an eye on it. --maru (talk) contribs 01:11, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Taun We merge edit

I went ahead and merged it per the tag. --Deckiller 03:32, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. --maru (talk) contribs 03:32, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello - interwiki links edit

I've ben adding some links to the Hebrew Wikipedia, however you seem to be taking an issue with that, and revert all my changes, mind telling me what the problem is? --Daniel tzvi 20:18, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Becaue as far as I can tell they are blank links- to me they look like [[He: ]]. --maru (talk) contribs 21:14, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Maybe your computer can't show hebrew chracters (a common enough problem), the links work, however, I checked them manually. --Daniel tzvi 02:43, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, if you say so. --maru (talk) contribs 03:10, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar edit

"I think I owe you one for such great work!" --Deckiller 03:34, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'll add it to my other one! But really, it is you who deserves the kudos. I'm far too lazy and burned out to put forth enough effort to successfully start the Project as well as you have. --maru (talk) contribs 03:38, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks ^ ^. However, you were the one who really made me understand the nature of the Star Wars articles in that merged topics shouldn't be as large as, say, Xenosaga, since the universe is so large and deep. By the way, do you think that we should make an archive to place all previously completed tasks? I have a feeling that this will get much larger than the Wikipedia:WikiProject Final Fantasy/things to do. --Deckiller 03:44, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Man, you are hopelessly addicted to vast fictional universes, aren't you? :) Archives are a good idea, but not vital- the page is not particularly large and is still navigable. Work on getting material we can archive. --maru (talk) contribs 03:49, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I'm addicted :) Anyway, for archive items, do you mean items such as simple corrections, like copyedits and whatnot? --Deckiller 03:51, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'd say archive anything with a discussion. The other things are small, and so can be left indefinitely. Actually, they probably should be- good for morale. --maru (talk) contribs 03:53, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Although, we could play around with having the talk page be a de facto archive, since we are doing the discussion on the main project page. --maru (talk) contribs 03:54, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ah okay, so we could put any discussions over a solved mater into the discussion page. I like that idea; it saves us from making excess archives. --Deckiller 03:56, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I have to go, I'll be on tomorrow during school. --Deckiller 04:08, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bluegrass music associations edit edit

I am sorry, I wrote this message yesterday as the database was being locked, and only the header saved. I am wondering about music&curid=60590&diff=39369285&oldid=39196854 this edit to the bluegrass music article. There is no group called "Bluegrass Music Association" ; the group in question is the "Northern Kentucky Bluegrass Music Association." Can you explain your edit? Thanks. --Cmadler 13:22, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just a copy and paste mistake. --maru (talk) contribs 13:28, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
