Speedy deletion nomination of Dromos festival

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dromos festival, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Acroterion (talk) 14:10, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Acroterion (talk) 14:18, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

The most recent iteration is advertising-free, but you'll need to provide some references documenting its notability for it to survive - I'll take no action myself, but it's likely someone else will. See WP:NOTE - has there been any press coverage? Acroterion (talk) 14:39, 2 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Or it was ... the current version's just another advertisement. Please reconsider your approach to editing Wikipedia - promotion is very unpopular. Acroterion (talk) 15:05, 2 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Since it's going to be deleted, copied here:
The list of problems is expensive: use of the first person, plainly promotional language:
  • "fantastic local performances"
  • "Humble in origins but big in ideas."
  • "Expect a relaxed weekend, with a fun family atmosphere, and most importantly, loads of entertainment and interesting things to do. Can't make it to our two big festival days? Watch out for our satellite events popping up across West Sussex throughout the June/July period. The most exciting thing about Dromos is that you can help to make it happen! If your an organisation or individual and are interested in taking part, get in touch at our Apply to Dromos page. In these times of 'austerity' why not come out an celebrate the good things in life for the affordable price of Free! We can't guarantee you sunshine but we can promise that we'll give you a good time whatever the weather! The Dromos team are very excited about the acts we are bringing you on this, our inaugural year. Our line up is yet to be announced so watch this space! We can assure you that our showcase of local and not so local talent will be something special."
Do you see the problem with this kind of material in an encyclopedia article? These aren't facts, they're advertising. This accounts for three quarters of the content. Still no sign of compliance with notability guidelines either. The comparison with the Edinburgh festival is a leap, bith in terms of comparative notability and promotional language (although I'd not hold the Edinburgh article up as a model article). Dromos Festival's what I was referring to farther up the page. It's at least neutral, but no sign of notability. Acroterion (talk) 15:15, 2 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Dromos Festival

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Dromos Festival requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
