License tagging for Image:RS-83.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:RS-83.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

HD 106906 b‎

Hi Martin,

Just wanted to give you a heads-up as you're a (relatively) new editor. Ideally, collaboration follows a "Bold-Revert-Discuss" model (WP:BRD), the first editor makes a WP:BOLD change in an article, another editor who disagrees WP:REVERTs the change, and then the two of them (and any interested bystanders) head to the talk page of the article to thrash thing out. Guessing Game did this (more or less), which allowed me to suggest a couple of improvement. Guessing Game agreed, and the two of us were able to come to an amicable resolution. If you think that section should be removed, you now need to make that case on the talk page, just like Guessing Game made hir case.

Continuing to revert without discussion (or outside of consensus) ultimately ends up with a WP:3RR violation and people getting blocked from editing. That's an easy situation to avoid: let the edit you disagree with stand for a couple of days or a week while you convince other that it needs to go, and then make the change (or even better, let someone else make the change).

Now, all that said, I do happen to agree with you. However, Guessing Game is making a solid argument from policy rather than preference: the material is a neutral summary drawn from multiple reliable sources, is verifiable, and does not give undue weight to the information. If an edit meets those requirements, there needs to be a compelling reason in order to remove it. "Not encyclopedic" has, historically, not be a compelling argument (see WP:NOT for an list of circumstances where the argument is effective).

Hi Martin. Good to see another astronomer active in posts related to, well, astronomy. I've put in a slightly modified revert on HD 106906 b. I think the compromise is to include a note saying this is a 'candidate' exoplanet or something like that and discuss formation mechanisms at length.2632cgn (talk) 15:58, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Vulcan (rocket)

Hey Martin! I just reverted your recent edit to Vulcan (rocket) as I was unable to find any references to support the claim of 4 RL10 engines on the Centaur upper stage. Are you sure you aren't conflating that with the 1, 2, or 4 RL10 engines on the ACES upper stage? Note that while a reddit wiki is not a reliable source, it may be a useful source of information which can be traced back to a reliable source, but we do need that original source. An IP user reverted my revert, restoring your edit. Looking deeper, I see that a ~5 meter Centaur V with 4 RL10 engines seems to be the consensus on a number of sites, not just the reddit wiki. I see where Tory Bruno mentions a Centaur V, but can't find any official statement on the number of type of engines, so any good reference you can provide would be appreciated. Hi there, TOE. The CEO of ULA, Tory Bruno, has specifically stated that Centaur V will have 4 RL10s on Reddit. If I have some time this weekend, I'll work on properly sourcing this material for my edit. I follow this quite closely, and I am confident that the information I provided is correct. Thanks!
