License tagging for Image:233227 guns.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:233227 guns.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:05, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

No problem

edit

If you're creating new articles on Republicans can I recommend you maybe use an area in the project space I've just created - Wikipedia:WikiProject Irish Republican Army/Preparation/New page. The reason behind it is that Wikipedia has very strict policies about living people (found at WP:BLP), and any allegations of criminal activity have to be properly sourced. That area is basically where we create all our new articles, then we move them into the main pages area. It's just easier that way, and causes less problems. When using a talk page type ~~~~ after your comments, it will add a signature so people know who's left a message. Any questions just ask, I'll be happy to help. Thanks. New articles

edit

For now, please create them on the project page as I suggested above. Wikipedia articles all need to be formatted a certain way ideally, and once you've learned that format it's a lot simpler for everyone. I'll sort out the Seamus Clarke article, and you'll get a rough idea from that. Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 19:10, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's not a problem, it's just that Wikipedia has slightly strict rules about whether people are notable enough for inclusion, and I'm not sure if the two people are going to be notable enough to have articles. The best thing to do is find all the source material for a person first, then post the links on the preparation page like this. Obviously there might be some information you're adding from books as well, so if you list the books it'll help too. Then I'll be happy to take a quick look and see if there's enough information for an article. The project has problems with some editors as you might expect, there's plenty of anti-IRA editors round here so creating articles in mainspace straight away can cause problems. It's good that you're enthusiastic, I'm just trying to help point your enthusiasm in the right direction for now that's all. Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 19:22, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Seamus Clarke

edit

To be honest I'm going to have to propose the article after checking over the sources, as I can't find anything in any books about him either. From the sources there are this is the total of verifiable information:

  • He bombed the Bayardo bar
  • He escaped from Long Kesh
  • He was arrested by the Gardai near Pettigo (on an unknown date) after he drove through a garda checkpoint in a hijacked car, which contained Winchester rifle and 18 rounds of ammunition.

That's just not enough for an article sorry. I'm all for as many articles on Republicans as possible, but there's just not enough information. One Night In Hackney303 19:38, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you want you could add some information to this article? It's been on my list of things to do for a while now, but I've been busy with 1,000 other things. Possible sources I found, though I'm sure there's more:

I tidied this article up for you. I had to remove some information as I couldn't find sources for it, as pretty much everything has to be sourced. If you've got sources it can be added back though obviously. Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 22:17, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, that's the thing with Wiki, everything needs to be sourced. Also when you're adding to someone's talk page can you either add to the bottom, or add to a section you're already using for that convo, not the top. Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 17:16, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:233227_guns.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:233227_guns.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:29, 27 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- SteinbDJ · talk · contributions 12:29, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:1786439310a1862713742b807633284l.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:1786439310a1862713742b807633284l.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:15, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

File:OgraStudentMarch2009.jpg missing description details

edit
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:47, 11 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Possibly unfree File:Work13.jpg

edit

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Work13.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. Proposed deletion of File:GPO Dublin.jpg

edit

The file File:GPO Dublin.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Small, low res. Can be replaced with files at c:Category:General Post Office (Dublin).

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 14:31, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Riracoin.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Riracoin.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 12 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
