Welcome!

edit

Hi MarkusHagenlocher, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Hi Markus, I can't see the Image:BP-T52.jpg on commons; are you sure you got the filename right? Cheers — Matt Crypto 12:22, 23 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I made an failure using the nowcommons-template. I solved it and now it works correct. -- MarkusHagenlocher 12:45, 23 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to Peter Maffay

edit

This page is still under translation, and the banner at the top requests you do not edit it as a courtesy until the banner is removed. Please could I ask you, as I am creator of this article, not to edit it or link it to the other wikipedias in German and Swedish, until the article is completed. Thank you. Software Freedom Conservancy

edit

You added this term to SFC.... it has exactly *one* Google hit!

The purpose of disambiguation pages is to differentiate between common, likely and/or reasonable searches. It is not a complete list of uses.

More importantly, something with just one Google hit is almost certainly not notable. Its abbreviation is even *less* notable... please do *not* add this again. Thank you.

P.S. On the other hand, if it was a typo this might not apply.

Sorry, but I didn't check that. As I found out now, it was founded yesterday. -- MarkusHagenlocher 18:49, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

photo permission

edit

Hi Marcus,

Hello,

I am the general editor of a five volume academic reference series on the backgrounds to the Bible. One of my responsibilities is to gather photos for the project. I encountered your photo on Wikimedia Commons "triticum durum" and even though it is licensed under GNU, my publisher would like me to request your written permission to use it in my book outside the restrictions of that licensing. I would need non-exclusive world rights in all languages for both print and digital formats. Certainly you will be given credit in the work for your photo. If you are willing, please let me know how you would like the photo credit to read.

I look forward to hearing from you either through this discussion page or an email to jkwalton5@gmail.com.

Remember this? What about creating an disambiguation page on Gleaner. I looked for the manufacturer of agricultural machines and found this article. -- MarkusHagenlocher 21:04, 6 April 2007 (UTC):

I wrote an article on Gleaner Manufacturing Company. Daniel Christensen (talk) 20:56, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, for writing the article. -- MarkusHagenlocher (talk) 21:00, 4 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
How did you connect the German and English Gleaner articles together (creating the languages box)? All it shoes you added is a Gleaner Commons thing. Daniel Christensen (talk) 18:06, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
When I look in the Page history I can see that my last edit was adding the Commons link and the interwiki link to the German Wikipedia. -- MarkusHagenlocher (talk) 18:39, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:21, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of AGCO (disambiguation)

edit

The article AGCO (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Disambiguation page not required (WP:ONEOTHER). Primary topic article has a hatnote to the only other use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
