MacInnes Chief edit

Hi, I read Sir Donald was the current MacInnes Clan Chief on said Clan's official site somewhere. I'm still trying to find the exact URL again. If it's wrong or there's some other listing that ought to be used, then certainly roll it back. --BenM 10:35, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ah, cool, I think I might've mis-interpreted the head of the Association as also being the Chief. Whoops. --BenM 10:56, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Great Work, Mark... edit

Great picture of Lyon Grant, Mark. Thanks for putting it on wikipedia. Dave Boven 21:27, 6 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think that a Scottish Heraldry page would be great. All I've got to go on is Innes of Learney's Scots Heraldry. For now, I'm just trying to focus on general heraldry pages. Now, if Clan Nesbit were to get a private herald, I might be able to add a page for that officer. Have a great day. dave Boven 08:52, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I also just noticed that the current Chief of Clan Nesbitt has no wikipedia page of his own. A travesty... --Boven 20:14, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Mark...I've started a page on Scottish Heraldry. It is very poor at present, but it is something to work from. Mostly incoherent bits and pieces from my limited library. Any help is greatly appreciated. DaveBoven 15:46, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Armigerous families edit

You're quite right about Scottish clans and armigerous families. I hadn't checked my facts about Veitch and Jardine - just knew that they werre both closely associated with my own Porteous family in Tweeddale and Annandale (along with the Tweedies) and made an assumption. So thanks for pointing out the error. Regards Bruce, aka Agendum | Talk 23:00, 22 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey. I've proposed the creation of an heraldic portal. If you think that such a thing would be helpful, you can voice your support HERE and hopefully we can get the heraldry category items organized better. Thanks for all your hard work on heraldic topics.--Eva db 08:51, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Emmer in .ch edit

Hi, yes, I'm pretty sure Emmer is being grown in .ch (I live here). It's not exactly the most common type of wheat, but it is definitely there, and at least one of the largest food store chains (Migros) is selling Emmer bread as part of its normal offerings.

Portal:Cannibas edit

Hi Marknesbitt. You commented on the proposal to create a Portal:Cannabis. That proposal was rejected. Subsequently, the portal has been nominated for deletion. See Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Cannabis. Thanks, --cj | talk 07:04, 21 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Untagged image edit

An image you uploaded, Image:Chiefarms.jpg, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 07:46, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Kamut.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Kamut.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 13:33, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Campnorthway.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Campnorthway.JPG. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. Clan Naisbitt edit

Please see the discussion page.

I don't believe that the Naisbitt names are exclusively nor even at all 'Scottish', the name descends from Northumbria (which did encompass a small part of what is now Scotland) and the majority of the names descendants fell on the south side of the divide. This is another act of false popular belief. Garynaisbitt (talk) 06:33, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello again Mark, regarding the Naisbitt variations in England, you are right that the name does not appear on the census records pre 1701, which wa sthe first comprehensive census for Northumberland and Durham, no the wonder they didn't appear in 'England' before that. Image source problem with Image:Blackdown.png edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Blackdown.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:15, 21 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 19:15, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Augustmoon.jpg edit

The file File:Augustmoon.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superseded by c:File:Cecil Gordon Lawson (1849-1882) - The August Moon - N01142 - National Gallery.jpg.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 16:00, 8 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
