Welcome (and about orphan images)

edit

Welcome aboard and thanks for all your help on music stuff. I'm afraid that whoever was tagging your uploaded pictures as orphaned within a minute of you uploading them was being rather too quick on the draw. Anyway, you don't need to worry too much about it, because orphaned images don't get deleted for a week (and perhaps more depending on when an administrator actually gets round to checking them), so these would never have been deleted as you'd added them to the relevant articles. It's not very welcoming, I know, but it doesn't (or shouldn't) do any real harm as the tags will simply be removed. You can always remove them yourself when you've added them to the article, but there's no need for you to do this.

Hope this helps and again thank you. All the best, Angus McLellan (Talk) 00:24, 26 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I believe I was the one tagging the images. I was using a script and went into the "too soon" zone. Again, my mistake. ZooFari 00:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I just read it has a full page which has various tidbits on the song. I'm not sure where the rest of the info came from. Google news gives up a lot of hits, but most are pay per view, or just mention the song loosely in the context of it being one of The Times biggest hits.--Crossmr (talk) 05:06, 8 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:PrinceChelseaRodgers single.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:PrinceChelseaRodgers single.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.

Book:Prince

edit

Hi, Books must have the quotation marks located inside the brackets as is Wikipedia policy that they be included as part of the link. You can check out other books and you will find the same thing. Best, --Discographer (talk) 20:13, 17 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, you're doing a good job yourself on these Prince articles! Best, --Discographer (talk) 20:15, 17 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
If there is no connection with that song to Prince, then feel free to remove it from the book. Best, --Discographer (talk) 20:23, 17 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Here's the answer - have a look at the songwriters listed in the infobox for "Superstar", and you will see what I mean. Best, --Discographer (talk) 20:30, 17 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:GlamSlamUlysses.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:GlamSlamUlysses.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:50, 24 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Minneapolis sound

edit

Greetings. Minneapolis sound has needed citations for over three years. You come up first in page statistics, so I would like to know. Do you have any more reliable sources for this article? I'm thinking about asking for deletion because Andrea Swensson wrote an entire book on the subject but nobody has used it as a source. Thank you. -SusanLesch (talk) 02:02, 2 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
