Hi, MarkCorrea. I presume, given your recent additions of links to DiscoverPHL pages, that you're the Mark Correa who works at DiscoverPHL? Wikipedia policy requires editors who are employed by or otherwise financially tied to organizations to disclose on their user page when they make edits relevant to their employers. Adding links to a tourism-boosting site isn't necessarily bad, but it would be good to have your connection explicitly disclosed. Cheers. PRRfan (talk) 18:46, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Didn't realize I was walking outside the lines. Markcorrea (talk) 19:10, 5 March 2014 (UTC) MarkcorreaReply

No sweat. WP is a) a fairly intricate tool around which b) a fairly intricate culture has developed. There's a lot to learn; I've been doing this five years and still learn new stuff every day. Welcome; hope you stick around. PRRfan (talk) 21:28, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I noticed the edits as well and removed them. If you feel any should be restored, bring it up on the articles' talk pages per WP:COI. --Ronz (talk) 15:54, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
So links to relevant content on a nonprofit site that's also the city of Philadelphia's Official Convention and Visitors Bureau are not allowed because they were made by someone affiliated with the nonprofit? And any additional value the content might offer to users is ignored? Just trying to be sure I understand. Markcorrea (talk) 19:01, 6 March 2014 (UTC)MarkcorreaReply
No, it just exacerbates the problems.
The relevant content policies/guidelines are WP:SOAP, WP:NOTLINKS, and WP:EL. --Ronz (talk) 22:07, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Swell. I'm done. I tried to offer meaningful content and had it arbitrarily deleted with a nod at a bureaucratic black hole for explanation. I'm sure you understand the effect of such a move is to limit any meaningful discourse and chase away someone with a genuine interest in improving this resource. You want to remove external links that add context? Whatever, I guess something or other has given you the authority. But this? That's just pointless. Have your say now. Or don't. Like I said, I'm done.

(And PRRfan, thanks, again, for trying to point me in the right direction with kindness and understanding.) Markcorrea (talk) 16:47, 7 March 2014 (UTC)MarkcorreaReply

There was nothing arbitrary about the deletions. If you want to discuss the specific details as to why they are inappropriate, I'm happy to take part or point you to where we can be sure to get others' opinions on the matter. --Ronz (talk) 19:49, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
