Disambiguation link notification for January 30
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited James F. Burke (musician), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages ABC and Decca. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:12, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
Horn of Plenty (James Burke album) moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Horn of Plenty (James Burke album), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ... discospinster talk 18:03, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for February 16
editAn automated process has detected that when you recently edited Goldman Band, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ernest Williams.
(Opt-out instructions.) --DPL bot (talk) 06:40, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for the disambiguation notice. There is something wrong with that particular link. I have tried to edit it so that when someone clicks on "Ernest Williams", it will go directly to that article "Ernest Williams (Conductor)". However, that attempt always "redlinks" and says "No page exists" when, in fact, the page does exist.
There is another issue that needs to be cleared up and might be/probably is the root of the problem: The name of the article "Ernest Williams (Conductor)" should be changed to "Ernest S. Williams (Conductor)" as well as every mention of Williams in this article should be changed from "Ernest Williams" to "Ernest S. Williams". I have attempted to change it with no success. In conclusion, I believe it is best to leave the link "as is" until someone can properly address the problem. There are a lot of people named "Ernest Williams" on Wikipedia, but only 2 named "Ernest S. Williams" and only 1 of them is a conductor/musician. Thanks in advance for your help! This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. File copyright problem with File:The Goldman Band circa 1920.jpeg
editThank you for uploading File:The Goldman Band circa 1920.jpeg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Mark O'Keeffe! Your additions to Samuel Miller (Musician) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:44, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
