Trikala, Imathia edit

Eastern Rumelia was an autonomous province of the Ottoman Empire that from 1885 (de-facto) and from 1908 (de-jure) was part of Bulgaria. The term has no geographical meaning, the region is called Northern Thrace.
The Greeks who immigrated from Greece to Bulgaria were not refugees but left as result of a mutual population exchange. See Population_exchange#Balkan_population_exchanges.2C_1913. Kostja (talk) 10:20, 19 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand what you mean by that. That Eastern Rumelia ceased to exist in any sense after 1908 is indisputable, my edits have nothing to do with that.
I understand that in Greece it's popular to call Northern Thrace Eastern Rumelia even outside of the 1878-1885 period, which is not widespread in English language sources. Indeed, linking to Eastern Rumelia in the Trikala article, is confusing and contradictory, as the article is only concerned with the period when Eastern Rumelia was autonomous. The population exchange in 1925 was concluded between Bulgaria and the Greece and this must be reflected in the article (of course, the Greek refugees came from Northern Thrace and this must be mentioned, but not with a term that will confuse and mislead readers).

Actually the region is called Northern Thrace. See Northern Thrace and Thrace. Eastern Rumelia is not used in English sources for this purpose, especially after 1908. As you can see from the article about Eastern Rumelia, it's not even mentioned as existing then, so it's inaccurate to link to it. Your pro-Greek POV is not acceptable here. Did you read the part where Eastern Rumelia became part of Bulgaria in 1908? See also Treaty_of_Neuilly-sur-Seine for the borders of Bulgaria at the time. It's one thing to remove a little used term, which on top of it implies that Northern Thrace wasn't really part of Bulgaria and something completely different to remove the obvious fact that the region was part of Bulgaria at the time. See WP:NPOV for more information about what is POV. I also don't see why you keep removing the information that the refugees were part of a population exchange, which is explained at the Wikipedia site I linked to.
By the way, you should provide the Greek spelling of your source as I can't find any reference to it in English. Kostja (talk) 20:15, 24 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've added a footnote explaining why the region is sometimes called Eastern Rumelia. This should be a compromise which mentions Eastern Rumelia as a term without giving it too much weight. Kostja (talk) 20:21, 24 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
