Welcome!

Hello, Marier2008, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome! Also, I see you are developing an article in your userpage. You may want to make your very own Sandbox, so your main userpage isn't cluttered with a developing article. Just a suggestion, not a rule. Cheers, DavidWS (contribs) 20:58, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Help

edit

{{help me}} Hi, I created the article Empire life - but didn't capitalize the "Life", so I'd like to make a new page that is titled Empire Life. I deleted everything on the Empire life page and then there was a box that said it's being recommended for speedy deletion, but not sure how that happens. I'm very new here, if you can't tell. Thanks. Marier2008 (talk) 21:09, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

It looks like it's already been deleted. I'm guessing because (assuming it's the same as your userpage):
  1. The article has no references from reliable sources
  2. It looks kind of like advertising, when our articles need to be neutral
  3. It uses multiple external links within the text, which is a no-no; any links in the text should either be wikilinks or references. External links should be contained in a section called 'External links.'
I'm going to move have moved the article from your userpage into your User:Marier2008/Sandbox so you can work on it there, and when you're done you can ask someone to look at it and let you know if they think it's ready to be an article yet. roux ] [x] 21:15, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Just to clarify further, somebody placed that box there when they noticed you had blanked the page. Normally, the blanking of a page by it's only author means the author wants that page deleted, so it was deleted. Also, when your account is 4 days old, and you have 10 edits, a "move" tab will appear, allowing you to shift a page to a new title, preserving it's history. :-) Stwalkerstertalk ] 21:20, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your help - I'm learning and there is a lot to learn! Marier2008 (talk) 21:24, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}}I'd like some help in reviewing the page I've created and edited on my Sandbox page. Can someone take a look at it and let me know if you think it's ready to be an article? Thanks! Marier2008 (talk) 15:33, 16 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Seems ok. Could use some more external reliable sources though. You can ask for more eyes on it at the Village Pump or at a relevant WikiProject.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Empire Life logo.svg)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Empire Life logo.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:07, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
