Speedy deletion nomination of Hanggyo

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Hanggyo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. The MacKees

I have to issue a slight reprimand for omitting mention of Margaret E. MacKee from the article on Hugh Shaw MacKee. She is mentioned in the French source you used:

Un certain nombre d’espèces ont aussi été décrites en l’honneur de sa femme Margaret (et du couple) qui l’accompagnait dans tous ses déplacements.

The epithet mackeeorum (now attached to Leichhardtia mackeeorum) is plural and honours them both. I wouldn't expect you to exclude women in science! Peter coxhead (talk) 07:43, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

Thanks@Peter coxhead: I must not have noticed the phrase "qui l’accompagnait dans tous ses déplacements". However, I do reckon the "tous ses deplacements" is very possibly not true - close to true but all? regardless of the occasional illness.. As for any paricular species with the epithet mackeeorum, I am surprised if I overlooked the plural. (Thanks for noticing) MargaretRDonald (talk) 12:01, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
I'm intrigued by the epithet in Bulbophyllum keekee, which is assigned only in honour of Hugh MacKee in the source in the article. I've no idea about the languages spoken in New Caledonian, but I know that in some Malayo-Polynesian languages, duplication is used to indicate plural, so it's conceivable that keekee means "the Kees". However, this is pure speculation! Unfortunately, the original description of Bulbophyllum keekee doesn't seem to be online. Peter coxhead (talk) 12:20, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:52, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

WANZ is offering travel grants

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, travelling to and from Wellington. Get in quick.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 19:14, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
